Daniel Day-Lewis' wife Rebecca Miller backs his return to acting: 'He was driving her crazy'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Acclaimed actor Daniel Day-Lewis's impending return to acting has the full support of his wife Rebecca Miller who was tired of seeing him lounging at home, Radar Online reported on Friday, January 24.
The 67-year-old had announced his retirement from Hollywood back in 2017. However, it was reported last October that he would be back at work to star in the film 'Anemone'. The project is being directed by his son Ronan, 26, and follows a script written by both of them.
According to the publication, Day-Lewis shares two children, Ronan and Cashel, with Miller whom he married in 1996. He shares another son, Gabriel, with his former partner Isabelle Adjani.
Insider reveals Daniel Day-Lewis was getting on Rebecca Miller's nerves
Since his retirement seven years ago, the thrice Academy Award winner has been seen very little in public. His wife seeks to change the situation, an insider shared with Radar.
"Daniel's a craftsman who loves to work with his hands, so he's kept busy all these years, but he was also getting on Rebecca's nerves," said the source. "Rebecca didn't believe that Daniel's reclusiveness was good for them, and she needed to get some space because he was driving her crazy," they continued
They added that the couple needed some space between each other, noting, "They were so on top of each other, she was ready to explode. She really believes his return to acting is not only good for the fans – but also for their marriage."
Day-Lewis previously did note that he wanted to quit acting for good, stating in 2017, "I didn’t want to get sucked back into another project. All my life, I’ve mouthed off about how I should stop acting, and I don’t know why it was different this time, but the impulse to quit took root in me, and that became a compulsion. It was something I had to do.” The statement clearly did not stand the test of time.
