NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy weighed in on the Bill Belichick interview controversy during his appearance on the Thursday, May 1 episode of 'The Megyn Kelly Show', reported the Daily Wire.

The 48-year-old believes there is no chance that the North Carolina Tar Heels football head coach wrote the statement that was released through the University of North Carolina following his awkward 'CBS Sunday Morning' interview last weekend.

Bill Belichick accused CBS of presenting 'false narrative' in his statement

The statement released on Wednesday claimed that CBS edited his interview to make it look like his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson was running the show.

Belichick went on-air to promote his new book, 'The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football'.

"Prior to this interview, I clearly communicated with my publicist at Simon & Schuster that any promotional interviews I participated in would agree to focus solely on the contents of the book. Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview,” read the statement released from Belichick's office.

The coach claimed to be "surprised when unrelated topics were introduced,” and insisted that interviewer Tony Dokoupil brought up his romantic relationship “several times.”

"The final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career. Instead, it presents selectively edited clips and stills from just a few minutes of his interview to suggest a false narrative — that Jordon was attempting to control the conversation — which is simply not true," Belichick insisted.

Clips from the interview that have gone viral online show Hudson trying to steer the conversation from the sidelines. In the statement, Belichick defended her, saying that she "was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track."

Dave Portnoy claims it's clear that Bill Belichick's GF Jordon Hudson 'runs the show'

Dave Portnoy claimed he was not sure that the statement released from Bill Belichick's office was written by him.

He told Kelly on Thursday, "In my years following Bill Belichick, I would say my knowledge of him, there’s roughly zero percent chance he wrote that. He just doesn’t care generally what anyone thinks about him. So to go write that — my guess would be Jordon wrote that.”

Stating that they both live on Nantucket, Portnoy claimed that he has also met Hudson, who is "nice enough."

“I was not expecting this interview. I was squirming. I don’t know what to expect. I don’t know what to think about it. It certainly was awkward … I don’t know why she’s so involved, I really don’t. I’ve met her. She’s nice enough, she’s running the whole show," he added.

“Every piece of Bill Belichick business goes through her … Like if that was maybe not in a romantic relationship, and that’s his PR manager … nobody’s blinking at that … It’s just a very awkward situation. The age gap is huge, clearly, but she runs the show," Portnoy claimed.
