KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: DeAndre Hopkins has cleared up any confusion surrounding his viral touchdown celebration during the Kansas City Chiefs' overtime win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

His celebration, which took place at Arrowhead Stadium, quickly sparked reactions from Taylor Swift and excited Chiefs' fans.

DeAndre Hopkins celebrates with Travis Kelce and teammates

The moment occurred during Monday night's game when DeAndre Hopkins scored a touchdown with 4:05 left in the first half, leading to an enthusiastic response from Taylor Swift who was seen cheering from a VIP suite.

Hopkins’ performance during the game was memorable. He made an impressive 35-yard catch on a pass from Patrick Mahomes in the red zone and, shortly after, caught another pass to secure his touchdown.

After reaching the end zone, Hopkins joined Travis Kelce and his teammates to perform a dance inspired by the 2000 film 'Remember the Titans' starring Denzel Washington as coach Herman Boone.

DeAndre Hopkins praises Tennessee Titans' Ran Carthon

Some initially believed the celebration was a dig at DeAndre Hopkins’ former team, the Tennessee Titans, who traded him to the Chiefs in late October.

However, Hopkins clarified that the celebration was not intended to mock his old team.

"It was a shout to Tennessee, if u know me u know it’s nothing but love for Nashville," Hopkins explained on X.

He expressed gratitude towards the Titans’ general manager Ran Carthon and the team. "Ran and his crew are like family. Without them, I wouldn’t be here," Hopkins wrote on X.

Hopkins’ two-touchdown performance contributed to the Chiefs' hard-fought victory on Monday night, continuing their eight-game winning streak.

The Clemson product caught eight of his nine targets for 86 yards in one of Kansas City’s most challenging games of the season so far, Daily Mail noted.

Internet shows love for DeAndre Hopkins after viral moment

The reaction online was overwhelmingly positive. Chiefs' fans and Titans supporters alike took to X to express their support for DeAndre Hopkins.

"We love you Dhop, thanks for coming to KC," one fan wrote. Another fan added, "Thanks for being so real, and for your time in Tennessee! Wish you all the best DHop, now go get a championship!"

Even some Tennessee fans understood the sentiment behind Hopkins’ celebration. "I'm a lifelong Titans fan and took it as a sign of respect and appreciated it. Go get a ring, you deserve it," one fan shared.

"Don't worry man, trust, real fans understood it was all love," wrote one.

Others welcomed him warmly to Kansas City, with one fan writing, "Welcome to KC!! We are so excited to have you as part of the Chiefs Family!!"
