DES MOINES, IOWA: Florida Gov Ron DeSantis's campaign slammed the media for projecting Donald Trump's victory in the Iowa Republican caucus even before it was over, reported The Hill.

The campaign's Communication Director, Andrew Romoe, released a statement on Monday, January 15, accusing the media's early projection calls as "election interference."

According to USA Today, major media, including the Associated Press, CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC, projected Trump's win 30 minutes after the caucuses began at 7 pm.

The Republican frontrunner secured a landslide victory in the Hawkeye state, followed by DeSantis in the second position and Nikki Haley in the third.

Another GOP White House hopeful, Vivek Ramaswamy, dropped out of the race due to his poor performance in the first test of the election year.

What was Ron DeSantis campaign's response to the early projection calls?

Calling out the media, the statement read, "It is absolutely outrageous that the media would participate in election interference by calling the race before tens of thousands of Iowans even had a chance to vote."

"The media is in the tank for Trump and this is the most egregious example yet."

Romeo also took to X to criticize the media's early projection calls favoring the former President.

DeSantis had heavily invested his time in Iowa, visiting all the 99 counties and securing the endorsement from Gov Kim Reynolds. Nevertheless, the former South Carolina Governor has shown a surge in polls compared to her initial popularity.
