Dee Dee Simon’s singing that left judges of ‘AGT’ awestruck resulted in actual prison riot years ago

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dee Dee Simon has become a star after creating magic with her singing in Season 19 of ‘America’s Got Talent’.

However, it was not the first time that she left listeners amazed by her talent. The talent of Simon, a nurse at San Quentin State Prison, led to a riot in the jail 19 years ago, as reported by NBC.

She told the reality show judges, “After I sang a song, a riot broke out. Then I had to triage everybody.” She also noted, “They asked me again, and I just did it two months ago, and it was peace.”

During her performance for AGT, Simon reportedly sang ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’ by Jennifer Hudson.

Soon after she was done, judges showered her with compliments as Sofia Vergara reportedly said, “I thought it was spectacular. It’s coming from your soul. It was a beautiful treat to have you here tonight.”

“To be honest, I think you’re one of the best singers we’ve had this season. It was just incredible. It was building and getting better and better,” Heidi Klum mentioned.

She added, “Shoes came off and you were down on the floor, and you were just giving it your all. You can feel how much you want this spot, and you nailed it.”

“You said ‘Every time I went to that door, something happened and I couldn’t get through'. I think that you are out. You are free. Welcome to the world that you deserve to be in,” Howie Mandel stated.

Simon Cowell also could not hold himself from praising Simon as he noted, “There’s nothing more frustrating than when you have talent and you just can’t be heard. And I promise you tomorrow things are just gonna be better. I think you’re going to inspire a lot of other people.”

“You picked one of the hardest songs in the world, and you nailed it. You did amazing,” he added.

However, not only the judges, but people online have also poured Simon with love as a person commenting below a YouTube video wrote, “I hear years of church choirs giving glory to God. IMO, she’s one of the best singers they’ve had ever not just this season.”
