Demi Moore hints that the producer who called her a 'popcorn actress' is dead
Demi Moore began, "What somebody else does or doesn't do is irrelevant. How you hold it is everything. And while I may have taken it as he intended it, it's what I made it mean about me."
She continued, "It's that I made it mean that somehow I wasn't ever going to be somebody that could be acknowledged in that kind of arena or platform, that I couldn't win awards... But he didn't do that. He just said the words. So that's the difference."

The host, Jimmy Kimmel, then asked her if she thought the person heard her speech and the actress replied jokingly, "He may have been rolling over in his grave."
While accepting her award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy at the 2025 Golden Globes, Moore said, "Oh wow. I really wasn’t expecting that. I’m just in shock right now. I’ve been doing this a long time, like over 45 years and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor."
After mentioning the "popcorn actress" comment, the 'Ghost' actress shared that she "bought in and I believed that" about herself for many years.
"That corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete. Maybe I've done what I was supposed to do," the 62-year-old added.
During her interview with Kimmel, Moore also touched upon how she has "reframed" the negative title the producer gave her 30 years ago by embracing it, especially after the critical and commercial success of 'The Substance'.
"How fortunate do I feel that I am in a movie that not only is a popcorn movie, that’s got people into the theaters to have a communal experience, but it’s also getting critical acclaim? So, two things are possible at the same time," she said.

She also referenced the devastating Los Angeles wildfire, and shared, "This is a time of incredible contrasts and right now, my heart is with my friends, family, neighbors, and community here in LA."
"The fires have devastated so many lives but to see the way our community has united leaves me in awe of the resilience and compassion that defines us, and this moment is a reminder of how incredible we are when we stand together," Moore noted.
