Demi Moore's age-defying pics from SFFilm Awards stir debate on 'tough' beauty standards for older women
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Demi Moore appeared decades younger than her true age at the SFFilm Awards on Monday, December 9, sparking discussion about "tough" and "unfair" beauty standards that are applied to aging women.
The debate ensued as the 62-year-old actress' team shared two photos of her with flawless skin, devoid of any wrinkles, before she walked the red carpet, as per Daily Mail.
Demi Moore's photos from the SFFilm Awards stir debate on beauty standards
Responding to one of the images on X (formerly Twitter), journalist Paul Skallas bemoaned, "Previously women were just supposed to be hot in their 20s and 30s, but now the expectation is they have to be hot all the way up until they die. That's a tough standard."

Moore, who portrays an aging actress in Coralie Fargeat's horror satire, 'The Substance', looked stylish in a figure-hugging black dress and a coordinating black denim jacket, both created by GapStudio VP Zac Posen, as she flaunted her glowing skin on the SFFilm Awards Night.

She was one of the honorees for the evening, along with filmmakers Denis Villeneuve of 'Dune: Part Two', Jason Reitman of 'Saturday Night', and Malcolm Washington, the son of Denzel Washington, of 'The Piano Lesson', as per Daily Mail.
Austin Butler from 'Dune', Connie Nielsen from 'Gladiator II', and Gabrielle LaBelle from 'Saturday Night' were among the other celebrities who made an impression on the red carpet.
Demi Moore claims to have discovered 'joyous acceptance' in her aging process
While attending the 2024 Gotham Awards on December 2 in New York City, Demi Moore told People that "over the course of my whole life" it was common for her to harbor "judgment against myself."
"I can look back and go at 20, at 30 I was finding things that weren’t good enough. My relationship with [aging] now is much more in a joyous acceptance," she shared.
The actress added, "Of course, there's things that you go, "Oh I wish that was not that way," but in terms of the whole, I see myself and the fullness of who I am as opposed to just the external idea of who I am."
Moore attended the New York City event, where she received a nomination for outstanding lead performance for her performance in 'The Substance', wearing a stunning eggplant-colored floor-length Dior gown with a pleated skirt.

She accessorized her ensemble with stunning Bulgari diamonds, such as a gorgeous ring to go with her dress and a massive diamond necklace. Moore maintained her signature glam look, which included rosy cheeks, a natural lip, accentuated lashes, and long hair in soft curls.
Demi Moore's age-defying photos have the Internet saying 'women should be allowed to get old'
Paul Skallas' X post has been viewed nearly a million times at the time of writing.
In response to his thoughts on the tough beauty standards, one wrote, "And make no mistake, being hot long past your youth is not only time consuming but expensive. It’s really unfair to expect 50+ year old women to compete with 20 somethings on the dating market. No wonder people are depressed."
"It really is. At some point women should just be allowed to get old without being treated like a rock in everyone’s shoe," remarked a person, while someone else added, "Calling it now. In 10 years, there will be demand for natural aging and wrinkles. People will always chase novelty until it stops being novel."
"Money gives you the ability to stay hot. If you don’t invest a thousand a month on your looks you will age," added one.
An individual said, "Celebrities are off-the charts extreme outliers. But everyone sees them 24/7, so they shape our perception of what is normal in a way that our forbears never experienced."
"What’s really sad is that I didn’t recognize it was her. Cost of this type of beauty is too high when it erases specific characteristics and everyone looks the same," exclaimed one more.
Women who are hot past 45 usually have some witchy quality about them. Something immoral about women who are hot into their 50s.
