NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Travis Kelce fought back tears as he returned to the Kansas City Chiefs locker room following one of the most disappointing nights of his career at the Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans.

The heartbroken Chiefs tight end, 35, had a sad expression on his face after Kansas City's hopes of winning three straight titles were dashed by a crushing 40–22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

After giving a quick interview to the media in the locker room, Kelce went upstairs to the suite where his girlfriend Taylor Swift, and his family were watching the game.

Travis Kelce expresses his heartbreak at Chiefs' loss

Travis Kelce's 2025 season did not end the way he had hoped. He wanted to help the Kansas City Chiefs achieve a historic hat trick, which had never been accomplished in Super Bowl history.

Instead, he could (mostly) only watch from the sidelines as the Philadelphia Eagles destroyed his team 40–22 on Sunday, February 9, at the Super Bowl LIX.

Despite all the praise, Kelce and the Chiefs were unable to defeat the Eagles. During the broadcast, the camera captured Kelce on the Kansas City bench, looking crushed and distraught.

The Chiefs tight end told reporters in the locker room after the game, "Hats off to the Eagles, man. We couldn't get it going offensively," before adding, "We just couldn't find that spark, couldn't find that momentum."

According to Kelce, who was limited to just four receptions and 39 yards, he thought the Chiefs might win the game at halftime.

"100% believed. Never lose doubt. This team is going to fight to the end forever. I think there was a lot of things going wrong," he said.

"Everything was not really going our way today. You don't lose like that without everything going bad. We haven't played that bad all year," Kelce added.

When asked what shocked him about the defeat, Kelce said, "That he that we haven't played that bad all year."

It was a far cry from the exuberant moments with Swift last year, when the most popular couple in America shared a kiss on the field following a spectacular night out in Las Vegas.

This time, a stadium full of Eagles supporters booed Swift savagely when she appeared on the jumbotron, while Kelce disappeared from the field, per Daily Mail.

President Donald Trump also posted a video of Swift being jeered from all sides of the stadium, comparing it to the applause he received.

The 'Lover' singer was nowhere to be seen following the game. She sat down in the stands to support Kelce during what he described as the most important game of his career.

His undeniable passion for the game notwithstanding, Kelce must now consider whether he can outrun Father Time.

Despite having to pitch in with the harder yards and do more blocking for his offense, there is no denying that his performance level has declined this season.

"This is really heart touching," a third fan added.

Another said, "They just have to let this sink in and realize they made history being the team who went back to back to the SB 3 yrs in a row."

"Worthy he had such a good game i’m so sad for him," chimed in one.

Another suggested, "Travis needs to stop being so overconfident. Hopefully this MAJOR loss will sink in."
