Director confirms release of 'Fast and the Furious' saga conclusion starring Vin Diesel in 2026
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Internet users met with mixed feelings after the director of the finale of the 'Fast and the Furious' saga revealed that the movie is set to hit the theaters in 2026.
The key star of the movie, Vin Diesel, is set to return one last time to play the role of Dominic Toretto. However, recently Diesel wasn't pleased with the movie's producers as he demanded a $250 million budget to make the finale.
However, Universal Pictures reportedly rejected the request, citing the underwhelming performance of the previous film, 'Fast X.'
'Fast and the Furious' finale is set to release in 2026
Collider reported that during a recent panel at CCXP MX moderated by Collider's Steve Weintraub, director Louis Leterrier, renowned for his work on 'Fast X,' shared insights into the behind-the-scenes developments of the final installment of the 'Fast and the Furious' series, potentially titled 'Fast XI.'
Leterrier, currently occupied with another film project, provided details on when he will assume control for 'Fast XI'. He informed Collider, "It's happening. It's happening very, very soon. I'm able to shoot a little horror movie this summer. I'm finishing my horror movie on September 15th, and I start Fast on September 16th."
The discussion also addressed recent comments by Tyrese Gibson regarding filming commencing early next year. Leterrier affirmed this timeline, stating, "Tyrese is always right. Watch his Instagram!"
Collider clarified that filming is indeed scheduled to commence early next year, as disclosed by Leterrier. He also unveiled the release plan, affirming, "It's filming early next year, and it's coming out in 2026, which will be exactly to the day, 25 years since the first one came out."
As the franchise prepares to say goodbye to its devoted fanbase, rumors suggest that 'Fast XI' will return to its origins, evoking the vibe of the original film. Leterrier hinted at some plot details regarding the setting.
He confirmed that the finale will revisit where it all began, Los Angeles, the location of the first 'Fast and the Furious' movie.
Internet users say the 'Fast and the Furious' films aren't relevant anymore
A user wrote, "I said it before and i’ll say it again, fast and furious should’ve ended on part 7. It would’ve been both a perfect send off for Paul Walker AND the franchise." [sic]
