MANILA, PHILIPPINES: ‘90 Day Fiance’ stars Mary and Brandan Denuccio are putting a plug on their fundraising campaign after fans called out Mary’s cancer diagnosis as fake.

The ‘90 Day Fiance’ couple, who got married last year announced over the weekend that Mary has been diagnosed with colon cancer and started a fundraiser to finance her medical bills.

Many fans believed in and started donating which resulted in the accumulation of a sum of more than $1000. However, several fans did not buy the story and started digging into it.

Ultimately, the couple backtracked on their cancer announcement with Mary admitting that she got scared after self-diagnosing through TikTok videos.

More on Mary Denuccio’s health scare

It all started over the weekend when Mary announced that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer and started a fundraising campaign.

On the fundraiser’s page, Mary wrote that she had been suffering from abdominal troubles since her teenage years. Recently, however, she came to know that she had colon cancer and the doctor allegedly told her she would require surgery to remove it.

Mary wrote, “The doctor said [it] needs to be removed before it’s too late,” before adding, “I don’t have financial support. I’m the only one working in the family and supporting my family.”

She continued, “I hope you will help me, any amount will help me a lot. Please don’t judge me I don’t want to die. I want to spend my whole life with my daughter,” per The Ashley.

Mary and Brandan Denuccio backtrack on cancer announcement

While the couple’s fundraiser started receiving money, several fans were skeptical about the authenticity of the diagnosis, with many social media users asking for pathology reports.

As the skepticism grew, the couple released a statement on their Facebook page, which in essence meant that Mary had not received any official diagnosis from a medical practitioner. Rather she self-diagnosed herself after watching TikTok videos.

Soon, the fundraising page appeared unavailable with GoGetFunding informing TMZ that it was Mary and Brandan who pulled the plug.

Brandan wrote on their Facebook page, “We don't know if Mary have colon cancer yet. Yes she posted on her IG that she have colon cancer because she watch TikTok videos of what is the symptoms of colon cancer and she have all of it. And on Feb 16 we went to the CENTER and have her check up and the nurse said maybe she got UTI or Apendicitis and a possible colon cancer that's why Mary is very scared.”

He continued, “So the nurse gives us referral to admit Mary at the city hospital and we went there next day. We went to the ER and we talked to the doctor and the doctor said that Mary needs laboratory first so we did that.”

He informed his fans that “Mary needs WHOLE ABDOMEN ULTRASOUND for AND X RAY.”

Fans slammed Mary DeNuccio for misleading them

Fans started bashing Mary on social media by calling out their declaration as 'disgusting'.

One of the fans said on Facebook, "Oh goodness I hope she didn’t fake this. Come on now that’s just disgusting."

Someone else added, "That's just sick and wrong...."

Another social media user remarked, "And this is why doctors always tell people not to look up their symptoms on WebMD, it seems like doctors now need to start telling their patients not to get medical advice from tick tock. If you have concerns about your health go see your primary doctor or go to the ER, don't get your information off of tick tock."

"Stressed because you got caught in a lie. Yet they recently have new vehicles, putting an addition in their home and was recently on vacation 🙄," observed someone else.

Fans started calling out Mary and her husband on their Instagram posts as well. Several fans rallied in and asked her to give the raised amount back to the donors.

One of the fans said under an Instagram post, "So are you going to give people their money back for your go fund me scam."

Another enraged fan said, "I hope you get fired from TLC. They won’t want the bad publicity. Then you’ll see how it is to really be poor again."

Under another Instagram post from February 14, several fans flocked in to criticize them for their misleading posts.

One of the fans wrote, "Can you please refund the money to the people who believed you had cancer? There is still time to do that right thing. And please just get a job, both of you. You don’t have to ask people for money if you just get a job."

"To put up a GoFundMe for colon cancer surgery when in fact you're getting an ultrasound is sick," said someone else under another post
