'Dismantle': Church of Scientology under fire after it is accused of ‘derailing’ Danny Masterson trial
DELANO, CALIFORNIA: The Church of Scientology is once again under fire over Danny Masterson. As per reports, Danny Masterson's rape victims have claimed that the organization tried to ‘derail’ the criminal proceedings against the actor.
Allegations against Church of Scientology
Civil attorney Simon Lee's statement in December 2023 has come to light now, reported RadarOnline.
The statement stated that "defendants and their agents engaged in a campaign of harassment and intimidation". This was allegedly directed at one of the prosecutors assigned to Masterson's trial, the court documents read.
In the LA Times report, it was alleged that people’s home and car windows were broken, home electronics were tampered with, and even agents "surveilled the prosecutor".
The Church of Scientology has denied any wrongdoing and claimed they have been blamed without any involvement.
"Allegations that the Church harassed or intimidated witnesses, prosecutors, or law enforcement officers are categorically false," said church spokesperson Karin Pouw.
"There is zero evidence to support these scandalous allegations — indeed, all available evidence demonstrates the Church had nothing to do with the alleged acts."
Daany Masterson sentenced to 30 years imprisonment
Danny Masterson was convicted of two counts of rape in May 2023 and is serving 30 years in prison.
The ‘That 70s Show' actor’s wife Bijou Phillips filed for divorce soon after his sentencing. She also got full and legal physical custody of their daughter while Masterson was given visitation rights.
He was recently transferred to the maximum-security prison where once cult leader Charles Manson served his time.
Masterson was moved from North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, to Corcoran State Prison in the state’s Central San Joaquin Valley.
Internet questions legitimacy of Church of Scientology
After civil attorney Simon Lee's came to light, social media users took aim at the Church of Scientology.
"Dismantle that damn organization. F**king gang," said one user.
Another user said, "They are actively engaging in the same tactics against the activist protesting. The accusations are true, just look at all the evidence from the people who escaped and anyone who dares to speak out about them."
"Anyone surprised by what the government approved CULT does?" questioned another on X.
A user didn't seem convinced on the accusations, "I call bulls**t on this. Nothing but fiction."
Dismantle that damn organization.
