CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Several Democratic National Convention (DNC) protesters dressed up as abortion pills and marched through the streets of Chicago, demanding expansion to access to reproductive health care across the country.

The first of many planned protests began on the evening of Sunday, August 18, with a rally in the shadow of Trump Tower at Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive. The demonstrators then took over southbound Michigan Avenue and marched to Grant Park.

DNC protestors demand access to reproductive health care

Videos shared on social media platform X showed protesters dressed in white outfits that appeared to look like abortion pills with the words "MIFE" and "MISO" written on them. MIFE (mifepristone) and MISO (misoprostol) are the two medicines used in a medicated abortion.

Another video posted on X showed protesters marching through Chicago chanting, "f**k the courts” and “f**k the state." They were heard saying, "F**k the courts, f**k the state, you can’t make us procreate."

The protesters reportedly took part in an "acoustic sing-along" where they sang, 'My body, my body/My choice, my choice', according to the Chicago Tribune.

The protest took place before the DNC, which will be held from August 19 to August 22. During the first two days of the convention, a Planned Parenthood clinic will offer free vasectomies and abortions, according to BREITBART.

Cara McLane of Abortion Access Front said Kamala Harris must work to expand access for all Americans to reproductive rights. She said, "Roe is the floor."

A short moment of tension between protesters and officers took place when officers tried to separate three anti-abortion protesters from the larger crowd. Both officers and march leaders worked to diffuse the situation, according to WTTW News.

Internet slams DNC protesters dressed as abortion pills

Several internet users slammed DNC protesters who dressed up as abortion pills and marched through Chicago streets demanding access to reproductive health care.

A user wrote on X, "They're weird," while one added, "Such warped people and they want to call #MAGA a cult?!!!"

A person also stated, "It's always the ugliest ones who advocate the hardest for abortion. As if they ever need to worry about it," whereas one mentioned, "Free abortion pills? Who is paying for it? Proactive or reactive? How about birth control or a condom. Morons."

A user also wrote, "I’m so happy this is held in liberal Chicago and not anywhere near my family. Promoting the destruction of the nuclear family is sick," while one commented, "Their whole platform is being able to kill their offspring that's all they got."

A person added, "It's wild that people actually took time out of their weekend to dress as an abortion pill literal crazy people," whereas one wrote, "If you told me that people were dressing up as abortion pills, my mental image would match up exactly with what these freaks look like."
