Don Lemon claps back after Kanye West claims former CNN host started rumor he was ‘kicked out’ of Grammys

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Don Lemon and Kanye West have got embroiled in an online feud after they crossed paths at the 2025 Grammy Awards in LA on Sunday, January 2, reported OK! Magazine.

The former CNN host was accused by the rapper of starting a rumor that he and his wife Bianca Censori were escorted out of the event as a result of her sheer outfit.

However, Lemon set the record straight on the Monday, January 3 episode of his podcast, stating that he had held back from roasting Kanye on the red carpet when he had every opportunity.

Kanye West's accusation against Don Lemon

Kanye West and Don Lemon crossed paths at the 2025 Grammys while the latter was covering the pre-show festivities. In his podcast, Lemon played a clip of the interaction, explaining his decision to steer away from "provocative" topics and asking music-related questions.

Lemon asked the rapper about the name of his upcoming album and future collaborations, at which point Kanye told him he was "trying to focus" and signaled to his manager that he would not be doing any interviews.

Inside the Grammys, Bianca's outfit was a hot topic of discussion, and Lemon claimed to have seen several outlets reporting that she and Kanye were made to leave as a result. He shared the update on social media, noting that they were rumors that he heard and did not verify.

Later when he spoke with Kanye's team and found the rumors to be false, he updated his social media followers on the same.

However, Kanye did not take the issue lightly and wrote a scathing post against Lemon on Instagram the following day.

"This the goofball that started the rumor that me and my wife got kicked out the Grammies," West stated alongside a picture of Lemon. "3 decades of innovating music and they always k***s like this."

The post has since been deleted.

Don Lemon's response to Kanye's post

The journalist shared his surprise at being attacked by Kanye West on social media even after he was respectful of him at the Grammys.

"Kanye, I could have roasted you on the red carpet. Like really come at you hard. No barriers," he said in his podcast. "I could have asked you anything. I could have asked you why are you an antisemite. Why are you sexist?"

"I didn't even discuss the odd things that you and your wife are doing and that people are actually really concerned for your wife," continued Lemon. "I did not start a rumor about you and your wife getting kicked out of the Grammys. I actually corrected it."

Referring to the rapper's offensive remark, Lemon added, "I don't appreciate you calling me a c**n. You can talk to people any way you want, but don't come for me unless I sent for you. Now check that. Don't even try it."
