'Hateful person': Donald Trump slammed for mocking Rep Debbie Dingell for 'crying' over husband’s funeral
WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump's Christmas greeting rant took a new turn on Tuesday, December 26, as he unnecessarily brought up Democratic Rep Debbie Dingell's late husband into the picture, reported MSNBC.
In a CNN interview, the congresswoman criticized the former president for making impolite remarks in his Christmas post. In response, he called her a "loser" in his Truth Social post and referenced her tears during her late husband John Dingell's funeral in February 2019.
"Debbie Dingell of Michigan is a LOSER, who is helping Crooked Joe Biden, and his Merry Band of Thugs, to DESTROY our Country with his INSANE Open Borders Policy, Inflation, High Cost Energy, Green New Scam, HORRIBLE WORLD DIPLOMACY, Afghanistan Catastrophe, All Electric Cars, and so much else," Trump wrote.
Dingell was among the ones who criticized the leading GOP presidential candidate's insulting Christmas message. He pointed at his rivals, Joe Biden and special counsel Jack Smith, overseeing the Justice Department's investigation into his involvement in the January 6 insurrection. Trump infamously added, "MAY THEY ROT IN HELL" in his post.
Donald Trump slams Debbie Dingell and accuses her of being ungrateful
Trump directed his rage at the Michigan lawmaker in another Truth Social post and accused her of being ungrateful for the funeral honors he granted to her late husband.
He wrote, "Our Country is a NO LONGER RESPECTED MESS, A NATION IN DECLINE, A FAILING, CRIME RIDDEN COUNTRY. When I gave, as President, her long serving husband, the absolute highest U.S. honors for his funeral, a really big deal, she called me, crying almost uncontrollably, to say that she couldn't believe I was willing to do that for a Democrat. She thanked me profusely."
"Two months later, she was back on the trail ranting and raving about 'TRUMP.' She ought to focus on how badly the Auto Workers of Michigan, and the USA as a whole, are being treated by CHINA, to which Crooked Joe Biden has given this once great industry away!" Trump added.
Besides attacking Dingell, the White House hopeful's Christmas messages were hardly Christmassy.
In another post, he blamed special counsel Smith accusing him of "ELECTION INTERFERENCE," pointing at his legal battles with the latest developments like the Colorado Supreme Court ruling against his presidential eligibility.
The former president also received severe trolling for posting a 2018 official Christmas portrait with Melania Trump amid reports of her absence at Mar-a-Lago.
We cannot ignore hateful, dangerous rhetoric, as much as we may want to. It is becoming too commonplace and being normalized. The use of “rot in hell” in a Christmas message — a time for kindness, love, and peace — reminds us we cannot become desensitized.
