WASHINGTON DC: Donald Trump laughed off a report that Joe Biden still believes he would have won the 2024 presidential election if he had not withdrawn from the race.

Trump suggested Joe Biden blew the chance he had with his disastrous performance during the presidential debate.

Joe Biden withdrew from the race in July amid pressure over his low polling numbers and rocky performance in a televised debate against his Republican rival.

He was replaced as the Democratic Party's candidate by Kamala Harris, who later lost to Trump in November's election.

“Well, he was way behind, he would’ve really, I assume, not had a chance,” Trump said when questioned by reporters at the New Year’s Eve party at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Joe Biden admits he 'screwed up' during debate

Joe Biden, according to the Washington Post, acknowledged that he had “screwed up” in his June 27 debate against Trump, as he struggled to put together sentences and defend his policies while his rival held forth with a series of falsehoods and called him a criminal.

Earlier this month in a speech on his economic legacy Biden as noted by the publication, admitted he was “stupid” for not putting his own name on the pandemic relief checks his administration sent out in 2021.

Trump, by contrast, made a point of signing his own relief checks in 2020, and Biden suggested that Trump got more credit for the economic recovery because of it.

“I wish him well,” Trump continued of his predecessor in the press conversation.

“He had a chance to do it in the debate, and that didn’t work out too well for him. That was, I guess, the reason that really led to his downfall," Trump said as per Daily Beast.

Donald Trump predicts a bright future for America

Many other Democrats still blame the president for holding on too long and not allowing his vice president Kamala Harris enough time to put together a winning campaign.

Speaking at Mar-a-Lago, Trump, 78, predicted in appropriately trumped-up terms that the United States was due for a “great year” in 2025.

“I think we’re gonna do fantastically well as a country. We’re gonna bring it back, it has to be brought back. People are not respecting our country very much and they gotta respect us a lot,” Trump said.

“There’s a whole light over the whole world,” he added. “Not just our country, there are a lot of very happy people.”
