WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris has found herself at the center of a social media storm following a recent comment made by President Joe Biden during a DNC speech.

The controversial remark came during a live event when Biden jokingly addressed Harris with the words, “You’re not going anywhere, kid,” in what was meant to be a lighthearted interaction.

CNN recently reported that Kamala Harris has been telling her supporters she will “not go quietly into the night” following her loss in the 2024 election to President-elect Donald Trump.



 

On Sunday, December 16, Biden and Harris both spoke at the Democratic National Committee’s Holiday Reception at the Willard Hotel in Washington, DC. During the event, Biden expressed gratitude to Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff while also predicting a busy future for Harris, Mediaite reports.

Speaking warmly about his vice president, Biden said, "Well, look, it’s also been an incredible honor to serve with someone of immense character that she demonstrated through her entire career: Kamala Harris."

Biden continued by reflecting on the decision to choose Harris as his running mate, highlighting the trust he placed in her from the beginning of their partnership.

"I knew what I was doing when I asked her to be my vice president. I knew her. I knew of her. I knew about her. I knew her record. I trusted her," he said, adding "She always served this country with purpose and integrity, and she always will."

He went on to say, "And you’re not going anywhere, kid, because we’re not going to let you go. You’re not going anywhere."

Joe Biden's remark sparked backlash from online critics, prompting them to offer unsolicited advice, including the suggestion that Kamala Harris should “get a restraining order.”

A user said, "Kamala, get a restraining order."



 

Another mocked, "She's now stuck in his windowless van with a tear-stained mattress."



 

A third commentator remarked, "We the people let her go, Jack."
