PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former and future first lady Melania Trump flaunted a surprising new style at a formal dinner with her husband, President-elect Donald Trump, at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday, December 15, reported the Daily Mail.

Trump hosted Aki Abe, the widow of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, at the dinner. Taking to the social media platform X, Melania uploaded a picture of the three of them from the evening.

"It was a privilege to host Mrs. Akie Abe at Mar-a-Lago once again," she wrote in the caption. "We fondly remembered her late husband, former Prime Minister Abe, and honored his remarkable legacy."

What was Melania Trump's change in style?

According to the publication, Melania Trump, a former model, is well known for her classic style, including a fresh blowout and a rounded French manicure.

However, in the photograph she shared with her 3.1 million followers on Sunday, her fingers were adorned with a new nail shape that looked like long talons with a tapered point in a wintery shade of white with a metallic hue.

Melania has been consistently seen in public with a white-on-white French manicure in the past and has even occasionally shown off a matching French pedicure.

Despite its name, the classic look of the incoming first lady was developed in Hollywood, shared the Daily Mail. It became a universal style in the 1970s after film producer and 'ORLY' founder Jeff Pink created the natural nail look as a way to help actresses save time before wardrobe changes on set.

While it took off becoming popular in Paris runways and getting various makeovers with pops of color and thinner, trendy curves over the years, Melania continued to sport the original design, until Sunday.

Melania Trump is speculated to wear hair extensions

While her husband is preparing to be reinstated in the Oval Office, Melania Trump has been updating her looks in recent days. On Thursday, December 12, she was apparently seen wearing hair extensions while accompanying her husband to the New York Stock Exchange.

Incoming Vice President JD Vance shared a behind-the-scenes look at Donald and Melania, which seemingly showed her clip-in hair.

According to London-based hairstylist Julia North, Melania was wearing "tape-in or beaded-row extensions," and one could "spot the telltale signs where the natural hair meets the extension pieces, particularly visible in the mid-sections."
