NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Ana Navarro attempted to ridicule the selection of President-elect Donald Trump as TIME's Person of the Year on the Friday, December 13, episode of the ABC talk show, by naming infamous authoritarian figures who have been bestowed the honor in the past.

Trump scripted one of the most remarkable political resurrections of modern times, as he managed to win a second term at the White House in November after being twice impeached following his first time and being convicted of multiple felonies since.



 

In their profile of Trump, the magazine explained, "For 97 years, the editors of TIME have been picking the Person of the Year: the individual who, for better or for worse, did the most to shape the world and the headlines over the past 12 months. In many years, that choice is a difficult one. In 2024, it was not."

Ana Navarro's comments on Donald Trump becoming 'Person of the Year'

While discussing the TIME's announcement on the Friday episode of 'The View' with her co-hosts, Ana Navarro attempted to brush off Trump's achievement by noting that the same honor had previously been bestowed upon the likes of Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Ayatollah Khomeini.



 

"Look for me, I was like, okay, at least this is a real Time magazine cover. Because you remember he used to keep sharing a fake," Navarro began her comment with a jibe. "Yes. He used to keep a fake Time magazine cover with the fake ones that he used to keep in his in his country clubs."

"And also, just as you know, so, you know, it’s not always been great people that have been on the cover of Time, right?" she continued. "It’s been people like Josef Stalin and Adolf Hitler and Khrushchev and Khomeini. So he’s in that kind of company as well."



 

According to Mediaite, Hitler was named Time's 'Man of the Year' in 1938, while Stalin was selected twice in 1939 and 1942. Nikita Khrushchev and Khomeini won in 1957 and 1980, respectively.

Netizens, mostly conservatives, slammed Ana Navarro as well as 'The View' for belittling Trump's achievement. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.
