WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday, November 13, that Elon Musk, one of his biggest supporters, won’t leave his side until he starts disliking him.

The President-elect was in Washington, DC, to join the House Republican conference meeting on Capitol Hill when he made the remarks about the tech mogul, who played a vital role in Trump’s win in the 2024 election, the Daily Mail reported.

According to a witness, Trump told the House Republicans about Musk, "Elon won't go home."

The 78-year-old politician continued, “I can't get rid of him. Until I don't like him,” before praising him. “Elon has been so great,” he added.

The attendees of the meeting also gave a standing ovation to the Tesla CEO, who seemed to be becoming closer to the Trump clan.

A few days back, he was seen with the Republican leader’s granddaughter, Kai. The 17-year-old aspiring golfer shared the photo with Musk on X as she wrote, “Elon achieving uncle status 😂.”

Musk will also be working for Trump after the latter takes charge as president in January 2025.

The 53-year-old businessman has been named a co-lead in a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He will be heading the agency along with Vivek Ramaswamy.

Trump shared on November 12, “Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies - Essential to the 'Save America' Movement.”

He also mentioned that he "looks forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans.”

“It will become, potentially, ‘The Manhattan Project’ of our time. Republican politicians have dreamed about the objectives of ‘DOGE’ for a very long time," as he proclaimed that Musk and Ramaswamy "will work together to liberate our Economy, and make the US Government accountable to 'WE THE PEOPLE,” the MAGA spearhead added.

Elon Musk says DOGE will bring ‘transparency’

Elon Musk shared Donald Trump’s statement on X. He also shared his views on the new department.

“All actions of the Department of Government Efficiency will be posted online for maximum transparency. Anytime the public thinks we are cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, just let us know!” he noted.

Musk added, “We will also have a leaderboard for most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars. This will be both extremely tragic and extremely entertaining.”

But the nonprofit watchdog group Public Citizen slammed the appointment.

The organization's co-president Lisa Gilbert said, “Musk not only knows nothing about government efficiency and regulation, his own businesses have regularly run afoul of the very rules he will be in position to attack in his new ‘czar’ position,” before asserting, “This is the ultimate corporate corruption.”
