Donald Trump tears into 'second-rate' actor George Clooney who dumped Biden 'like a dog' in scathing post

WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump is not going easy on George Clooney as he called the A-lister a “second-rate” actor in a fiery Truth Social post on Sunday, March 23.
Trump’s long social media post about the ‘Gravity’ actor came after Clooney appeared on Sunday’s episode of CBS’ ‘60 Minutes’ to talk about his upcoming Broadway debut project in the play ‘Good Night and Good Luck’, where he will be playing the real-life journalist Edward R Murrow.
However, the 78-year-old president was left unimpressed with the '60 Minutes' coverage of Clooney, whom he accused of dumping his former Democratic opponent and former President Joe Biden “like a dog” before the 2024 presidential election.
Donald Trump calls George Clooney a ‘second-rate’ actor
Donald Trump’s social media attack on the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ star came after the longtime Democrat urged former President Joe Biden to step aside from the 2024 election.

Taking to Truth Social late on Sunday night, Trump slammed the CBS news show and wrote, "Why would the now highly discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total 'puff piece on George Clooney, a second-rate movie 'star,' and failed political pundit.”
Calling out Clooney’s stance during the 2024 presidential election, the commander-in-chief continued, “He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog.”

Trump added, "Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for “Kamala,” only to soon realize that that was not going to work out to well.”
He steered his attention again toward the news show, writing, "60 Minutes even fraudulently inserted Fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history…And now George Clooney again?"
The president ended his verbal attack by hypothesizing, “His press agent should be making a fortune!!!”

Trump’s post came just a few hours after the ‘Wolfs’ star reflected on his Broadway debut in the role of journalist Edward R Murrow.
According to Irish Star, Clooney revealed during the interview that the play is deeply intertwined with his life and it bears quite a similarity to him.
Referencing Trump’s settlement with ABC News and his ongoing legal battle with CBS, the Oscar winner said, “When the other three estates fail, when the judiciary and the executive and the legislative branches fail us, the fourth estate has to succeed.”
Further reflecting on the importance of the press in upholding the features of a democracy, Clooney continued, “ABC has just settled a lawsuit with the Trump administration. And CBS News is in the process … We’re seeing this idea of using government to scare or fine or use corporations—to make journalists smaller.”
He continued, “Governments don’t like the freedom of the press. They never have,” before pointedly remarking, “And that goes for whether you are a conservative or a liberal or whatever side you’re on. They don’t like the press.”
George Clooney reflects on his opinion piece on Joe Biden as presidential candidate
During the same interview, George Clooney opened up about the New York Times op-ed, in which the lifelong Democrat requested former President Joe Biden to step aside from the presidential race due to his advanced age.
Clooney shared, “I’ll make it kind of easy. I was raised to tell the truth,” before adding, “I had seen the president up close for this fundraiser, and I was surprised. And so I feel as if there was a lot of profiles in cowardice in my party through all of that."
"And I was not proud of that. And I also believed I had to tell the truth," the actor added.

Following his momentous op-ed, Biden’s then adversary—Trump—blasted Clooney and called him a “fake actor” in another lengthy Truth Social post.
Trump wrote, “So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act,” as per Variety.
“He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are. What does Clooney know about anything?…Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!” Trump continued.
For his part, Clooney also didn’t hold back as during a visit to Jimmy Kimmel’s show, he clapped back at Trump.
When Kimmel read out Trump’s post, Clooney retorted, “I will if he does. That’s a trade-off I’d do.”
