Donald Trump doles out crucial advice to Kamala Harris if she runs for California governor in 2026

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump said that former vice president Kamala Harris "gotta start giving interviews" if she plans to run for California governor in 2026.
Harris was criticized last year as she gave fewer interviews after she was nominated as the Democratic candidate for the presidential elections against the then-Republican nominee Trump, per the New York Post.
Donald Trump advises Kamala Harris to give more interviews
During an interview with OutKick’s Clay Travis, Donald Trump had some advice for his political opponent: "Let her run. I don’t want to be giving people advice politically, but one thing she’s gotta start doing is she’s gotta start giving interviews."
He added, "Joe Biden - during the COVID thing, he did no interviews, and he got away with it because of COVID."
There have been rumors that Harris is mulling three options about her political future since her defeat against Trump in November 2024.

She could be running for California governor in 2026, vying for the presidency again in 2028, and staying on the sidelines as a Dem powerbroker, per the outlet.
Notably, Harris has maintained a low profile since leaving the White House this January. She has declined to do any public interviews and only made a few appearances such as the 56th annual NAACP Image Awards in February.

During her run as the Democratic presidential candidate in 2024, Harris had a guarded approach to the media and some Dem operatives complained that she never went on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
On the other hand, Trump gave several interviews with a wide range of personalities such as Rogan, Theo Von, and Andrew Schultz, per the outlet.

During the interview with OutKick, the POTUS also said that being elected in between terms "showed how bad [Dems] were."
Trump said, "What they were doing didn’t work."
The POTUS also reflected on the difference between his first and second administrations. He took note of how he’s garnered more allies, including in the tech industry this time around.
He said, "If you look at the inauguration — look at the people that were there — it was a who’s who of a world that was totally against me the first time. So a much different presidency. I have much more support."
Interestingly, a recent poll conducted for Emerson College Polling, Inside California Politics, and the Hill showed that 57 percent of voters are prepared to vote for Harris as governor, per Guardian.

Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, informed Newsweek, "If Kamala Harris enters the Democratic primary, she would start as the clear favorite. Without Harris in the race, the primary is wide open."
California attorney general Rob Bonta has shown support for Harris. He told Politico, "Her name recognition, her favorables, her ability to run a successful campaign would have the impact of clearing the field on the Democratic side."
He added, "If anyone wants to stay in, will I tell them: ‘You should leave because she’s clearing the field?’ Absolutely not. They can run. I think they’ll lose, and I will support her."
Kamala Harris goes 'MIA' as insiders claim Dems feel they don't need her kind of leadership
Insiders close to the Democratic Party described Kamala Harris as a political "Where's Waldo", and stated that she has gone "MIA" (missing in action).
The sources also argued that her style of leadership is not what the world needs at this time, according to Page Six.
A party insider expressed frustration with Harris and told the outlet, "She's MIA."

The source further slammed her husband Doug Emhoff for saying that the former VP is the leader of the party.
"The person you just spent $2 billion on trying to elect? I’m glad she’s having a good time going to a musical and being repped by CAA. This whole strategy of ‘do not do anything, or say anything,’ that’s not the kind of leadership the world needs right now," the insider said.
Meanwhile, a different source said about Harris and former president Joe Biden, who also signed with the Hollywood talent agency, "I don't think bookings for them are through the roof."
While comparing Harris to California Governor Gavin Newsom, the insider added, "At least he's out there doing stuff."
The source added while talking about Harris' supposed attitude, "It shows how kind of old the thinking is. Like, 'Well I’m not going to run [for governor] for a year and a half, so I’ll go away."
