WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump made headlines once again with his latest speech at the Faith and Freedom Conference on Saturday, June 22, as reported by Raw Story.

Addressing a crowd of religious voters, Trump called on them to support his bid for the presidency, promising to defend religious liberty from the likes of "communists, Marxists, and fascists." However, it was his peculiar claim about his body being covered in "wounds" that sparked widespread online ridicule.

Donald Trump claims he has taken more wounds than any other American presidents

During his address, Trump dramatically gestured to his chest and asserted that if he took off his shirt, the audience would see a "beautiful, beautiful person" scarred by numerous wounds.

"Just think of what we’ve already achieved. Together, we stood up to the communists, Marxists, and fascists to defend religious liberty like no other president has ever done," remarked the former president, adding, "And I have the wounds all over my body. If I took this shirt off, you’d see a beautiful, beautiful person. But you’d see wounds all over, all over me."

"I have taken a lot of wounds, I can tell you. More than I suspect any president ever," further asserted Trump.

Trump's claim about wounds appears to draw a parallel between himself and Jesus Christ, alluding to the injuries Jesus suffered during his crucifixion. The ex-POTUS went on to compare his supposed mistreatment to that of historical US presidents, including Andrew Jackson, who was shot in an assassination attempt, and Abraham Lincoln, who was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth.

Trump stated, "Now they’re rewriting the books. Trump was treated the worst, Andrew Jackson second, and Abraham Lincoln third. But I definitely took the top spot. I took some. And I’m honored to do it. And here we are, looking for more. How about that? I could right now be home, I wouldn’t be in court. I wouldn’t be in courts all over the land. All started by Crooked Joe Biden and his group of thugs."

Trump has a history of using religious themes to appeal to evangelical voters. The presumptive GOP presidential nominee suggested in December 2023 that he could win California in the 2024 presidential election if Jesus Christ and God were overseeing the ballots, as per Radar Online

At an Iowa rally he said, "I think if you had a real election and Jesus came down and God came down and said, I’m going to be the scorekeeper here, I think we would win there."

Internet reacts as Donald Trump claims to have wounds all over his body

Soon after Trump's claim of having wounds all over his body came to light, netizens wasted no time in taking digs at the former president.

One said, "Ya know... some of us would like to keep our food IN our stomachs," about Trump's remark of removing his shirt to show off the wounds.

Another joked, "Stretch marks aren’t wounds," and a person remarked, "'I have wounds all over my body,' says the draft dodger," alluding to the former president's military draft deferment. A similar comment read, "Wounds from what? From being a draft dodger? From the war he was too cowardly to fight in?"

"His thin skin bruises easily," quipped one more. An individual wrote, "He's getting worse. The decline is happening daily. He's utterly insane."

Another person noted, "Everything with this guy is either the worst or the best ever! He cleverly never gets tired of talking about himself and admiring himself. He really is a narcissist fool."
