He continued to praise, invoking the name of Donald. "Byron Donalds, Florida. Wow, that's nice to have you here. He's great. He knows exactly what I'm talking about. That one is smart. You have smart ones and you have some that aren't quite so good."

Donald Trump faces backlash for comments on Byron Donalds

Trump faced criticism for purportedly making derogatory and racially insensitive remarks about the African-American community.

One user on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) wrote, "This is a blatant and obvious racist statement spoken from the mouth of the GOP candidate running for president of the US. Folks, he's not trying to hide who he is."

Another user voiced their disappointment, saying, "He's one of the smart ones, others aren't quite so good. Who could he possibly be talking about? The closer the election comes, the more blatantly racist he becomes. Byron Donalds is an embarrassment."

A third commentator added, "Donald Trump’s racism is disgraceful."

"What does he mean by “smart ones”? Is he referring to Black people? He’s overflowing with racism and he’s not even trying to hide it," one wrote expressing anger.

A person stated, "Once again Donald Trump says the racist part right out loud."

On the contrary, supporters of Trump maintained that his comments were directed at congressmen broadly, without targeting any specific racial group.

An X platform user defended Trump, stating, "He’s talking about members of Congress."

Other chimed in, "If you think he was talking about Byron's race and not the fact that he's a congressman, then you might actually be racist."
