PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump called on Arizona legislature for immediate action to remedy the near-total abortion ban by the state Supreme Court based on a 19th-century law, The Hill reported.

The GOP presumptive nominee's urgency came following the Republicans of the Arizona Legislature's blocked Democrat attempts this week to revoke the court's ruling, which made abortion in the state a felony.

"The Supreme Court in Arizona went too far on their Abortion Ruling, enacting and approving an inappropriate Law from 1864," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday, April 12. "So now the Governor and the Arizona Legislature must use HEART, COMMON SENSE, and ACT IMMEDIATELY, to remedy what has happened."

The Arizona Supreme Court on April 9 enforced an 1864 Civil War-era law severely restricting abortion, including cases of rape and incest. The only exception is to safeguard a mother's life.

Reiterating his stance to give exceptions to rape, incest, and the life of a mother, Trump insisted and pleaded the lawmakers to "act as fast as possible," claiming, "Democrats are the EXTREMISTS - They support Abortion up to the moment of birth, and even execution of Babies, in some cases, after birth. This should not be."

The former President, who earlier this week declared his clear stance on abortion, leaving the legislation to states without endorsing a national ban, previously also opposed the strict limitation in Arizona, which needed to be "straightened out."

According to the 160-year-old law, anyone who undergoes an abortion or helps women to get one will face a two to five-year imprisonment.

Arizona's Democratic Gov Katie Hobbs lashed out at Trump's take on the issue during a recent interview on ABC's 'The View.' "I am pretty tired of cleaning up Donald Trump's messes in Arizona. This is really nothing but political opportunism coming from these folks who wanted this. This is what they wanted when they worked to overturn Roe v. Wade," she said.

The former President often boasted about his role in overturning Roe v Wade by turning the US Supreme Court conservative. The top court's 2022 ruling restricted access to abortion nationwide.

Vice President Kamals Harris traveled to the Grand Canyon State on Friday, where she blasted Trump, labeling him "the architect of this health care crisis," according to CBS News.

Internet slams Donald Trump

Internet users lashed out at Trump's call to Arizona lawmakers to immediately act on the strict abortion ban.

A user said, "He's such a disingenuous flip-flopper, his fanbase is so gullible that they lap it up like lapdogs."

"He wants criminal penalties. What's he whining about? He got what he wanted," another person remarked. Meanwhile, a third response read, "he bragged about abortion being overturned then says let the states decide .. the liar of the people is this disgusting man."

A fourth one wrote, "So he is for overturning abortion and against it. That sums up his position. You can’t believe anything he says. It’s about getting elected. Not about morals or policy."

"Wow ! This dude is a joke! Now he’s telling them to “act as fast as possible”! He gutted Roe ab initio! He’s opportunistic, always looking for ways of taking advantage for his own interests!" an individual chimed in.

Someone else fumed, "He screwed it up. Claims to be pro life - Jekyl-Hyde." Another user added, "Oh, but wait! I thought the states could decide! That’s what you wanted!! This man has opened a can of worms and will never, ever be near the WH again."
