Dwayne Johnson weighs in on the presidential election, says he looks forward to 'recalibrating of the US'
ARLINGTON, TEXAS: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, the wrestling legend and Hollywood star, has shared his perspective on the upcoming presidential election.
Despite being frequently associated with a potential presidential run, Johnson, 52, dismissed any immediate plans for a political campaign.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson appreciates the idea he has people to vote for him
During his speech at the inaugural UFL season’s opening game at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Dwayne appreciated he had people out there who would vote for him.
Expressing his gratitude for all the love and support, Johnson said, “I appreciate the support in this idea that there might be a few out there who would vote for me."
However, he stressed that his primary focus is his role as a father to his two young daughters and his eldest, Ava Raine, who he humorously described as “much more grown-up than I am.”
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson wants unity and recalibration of the US
After a moment of contemplation, Johnson decided to share his aspirations for the future of the nation post-election.
He stated, “Whoever winds up in office at the White House and at the end of this year and 2028, I look forward to the recalibrating of our country.”
He expressed his hope for unity, saying, “And I look forward to our country coming back together.”
Dwayne Johnson hopes for integrity and open conversations in post-election America
Johnson also highlighted the importance of integrity and acceptance of differing opinions in the country’s future.
He said, “And I look forward to our country having the anchoring and the integrity for people to have different opinions and that being okay and having open conversations about, ‘Hey, I feel this way. Great."
"Tell me about it. I feel this way. Okay, great.’ Not it’s either this way or no way, which creates this divide, which really bugs me," he explained, according to The Sun.
Before concluding his thoughts, Johnson humorously added, “I don’t want to go too far down the road.”
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson's political admirers
In November 2023, Johnson revealed he was approached by multiple political parties to see if he could run for presidential elections in 2022.
He said it was after a poll suggested 46% of Americans would support his campaign.
“That was an interesting poll that happened and I was really moved by that,” Johnson said on 'What Now?' podcast.
“I was really blown away and I was really honoured," he said, according to Guardian.
"It was a big deal, and it came out of the blue,” he added. He continued, "It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate."
Even though Johnson has denied the possibility of running for the elections for his children on numerous occasions even suggesting "it was off the table", he told Noah last year, “If that’s ultimately what the people would want, then of course I would consider it.”
