'DWTS' pro Artem Chigvintsev's mugshot released as 911 call reveals details of incident before his arrest

NAPA, CALIFORNIA: Artem Chigvintsev’s mugshot has been released following his arrest in Napa County for allegedly injuring his wife, Nikki Garcia (formerly Nikki Bella). Additionally, details from the 911 emergency calls have been released, revealing that the call was later canceled.

'The Dancing with the Stars' professional, 42, was taken into custody just before 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 29. He was booked at Napa County Jail less than an hour later and subsequently released later the same day.

Artem Chigvintsev’s 911 call details emerged

Reports indicate that the incident began when someone at Artem Chigvintsev's home called 911 around 8:30 a.m. to report a "medical emergency," though the caller's identity remains unknown. While paramedics and firefighters were en route, another call from the residence instructed them to cancel their response. 

Nevertheless, police arrived at the scene, and just over an hour later, Artem was arrested around 10 a.m. and charged with felony corporal injury to a spouse, as per Perez Hilton.

Such a charge requires visible injury to the victim. Although his wife, Nikki Bella, is the spouse involved, she has not been named officially, as the alleged victim requested anonymity.

By 2:18 p.m. on Thursday, just four hours after his arrest, the 42-year-old was released from jail. Sheriff’s Office officials reported that the victim is cooperating with investigators, providing detailed information.

Authorities are also examining Artem’s past for any previous incidents of violence or abuse. The investigation continues, with potential witnesses being considered.

According to booking records obtained by People, the booking code reveals that Chigvintsev was given a $25,000 bail. While it has not been officially confirmed, it is presumed that Nikki Garcia, Chigvintsev’s wife, is the spouse referenced in the charge.

Artem had recently celebrated his wedding anniversary with WWE star Nikki but now faces legal troubles. Nikki has yet to comment on her husband's arrest, and updates will be provided if she speaks out. The couple also has a 4-year-old son, Matteo, and it is hoped that he was not a witness to the alleged incident.
