CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA: According to recent court documents, socialite mother Eleanor Hunton Hoppe of Virginia has employed deceit to avoid having her phone calls monitored while she is being held on suspicion of plotting a horrifying sex assault on an eight-year-old girl.

Prosecutors allege that Hoppe, the ex-wife of a federal judge, was caught using other prisoners' assigned PINs to contact her family in an attempt to have private conversations.

Federal authorities assert that she has enlisted the help of her renowned legal family in her scheme.

Government opposed Eleanor Hoppe's request for pretrial release

Attorney Matthew Graves stated in the latest filings that Hoppe has been making unmonitored 'client' calls to her illustrious father, Eppa Hunton V, after falsely claiming to be her attorney of record.

However, the 45-year-old mother of two, who was the target of an FBI sting in March of 2023, was exposed when calls to her father a prominent member of Richmond's legal community were overheard to discuss the plan.

The Government opposed Hoppe's most recent request for pretrial release from the Correctional Treatment Facility in Washington, DC, where she has been detained since her shocking arrest in March, citing transcripts of their conversations.

On December 9 of last year, she filed a motion to be released from custody with the District Court for the District of Columbia.

She claimed to be 'not particularly dangerous' and asked to be permitted to live with her aunt while the case was pending.

She was accused of driving to meet a man she met online who she thought would take his young daughter to a hotel so they could abuse her together.

This was her second attempt to be released from prison due to the case.

Eleanor Hoppe discovered using other inmates' PIN

The government has recently learned that the defendant is misbehaving regularly at the Correctional Treatment Facility to avoid having her phone calls monitored, according to the opposition filing.

"Namely, the defendant has used the PINs of other inmates to place calls in an attempt to evade monitoring by law enforcement."

Furthermore, it states that Hoppe told the Department of Corrections that her 43-year-old brother Eppa Hunton VI, and her 76-year-old father were her attorneys of record and should be placed on the "do not record/monitor" list; however, the two attorneys are not her legal counsel.

The transcripts also disclosed that Hoppe's family members are in talks to have a book written about her case.

In a call to her mother Mary, 74, on June 29, 2023, Hoppe said, "Here's what I'm going to do because I'm super sick of every time I give you guys sensitive information, it seems to blow up in my face."

"I don't know why it took me so long to figure this out, but I'm going to start calling you from other people's phones. Why? Because nobody monitors their phones from the prosecution like they monitor my phone. Haha!"

"So, if you get calls from corrections agencies from people you've never heard the name, please accept them. I mean, we're not going to call collect, I'm going to use my money. Doesn't that make sense?"

Eleanor Hoppe made unrecorded attorney-client calls to her father

The defendant, Eppa Hunton, has been accused of using other people's phones to make unmonitored calls to her family and friends, despite being unaccustomed to being in jail.

The defendant, who is not her attorney, has been accused of snitching and breaching security by using PIN swaps and allowing others to call their families unmonitored.

The government has confirmed that Hoppe has placed dozens of free, unrecorded attorney-client calls to her father's number since September 26, 2023, despite her father not being her attorney.

The government filing also states that Hoppe wanted to be released into the custody of an aunt, who would ensure she had no access to electronic devices. However, the defendant's actions while at CTF undercut this claim, as she simply needs access to a phone to re-offend.

The defendant's misconduct at CTF involving phone usage shows her willingness to use deceit and manipulation to evade restrictions placed on her phone access.

The defendant's family has willingly joined in her behavior without hesitation or concern for the rules that the defendant is supposed to abide by.

A third-party custodian, particularly a family member with no monitoring experience, is not sufficient to protect the community due to the danger that the defendant's access to a phone poses to children.

The arrest of Virginia mom, the ex-wife of federal judge Joel Hoppe, has shocked elite communities in Charlottesville and Richmond.

Eleanor Hoppe arrested after allegedly arranging to meet her father

Hoppe was arrested at a hotel in Warrenton, Virginia, after allegedly arranging to meet a man she believed was a perverted father she had met on a fetish website.

She planned to sexually abuse the man's eight-year-old girl with him, but the girl was fictitious and the man she had been chatting with online turned out to be an FBI agent.

Hoppe had messaged the undercover cop sickening details about what she wanted to do to the child and sent the agent a 30-second video and three still images of young minor girls being horrifically sexually abused by men.

She pleaded not guilty to distribution of child pornography, coercion and enticement of a minor, and attempted transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity.

Hoppe had previously worked in child advocacy and support organizations and was a volunteer at her prestigious local Episcopal church in Charlottesville.
