PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Tech billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday, January 4, boasted of having a “lovely dinner” with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at Mar-a-Lago the night before.

The friendly meeting came just days after the Tesla and SpaceX CEO appeared to confirm reports suggesting he had begun financially backing Republican politicians ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Elon Musk says '2026 is going to be amazing!'

Musk shared a photograph from the dinner on X, showing him seated across from Trump as the president appeared to be speaking animatedly. Melania Trump was also present, though her face was not clearly visible in the image. She appeared to be wearing a white outfit.

Captioning the post, Musk wrote, “Had a lovely dinner last night with @POTUS and @FLOTUS. 2026 is going to be amazing!”

The post quickly gained traction online, drawing attention amid ongoing speculation about Musk’s growing political involvement. Only days earlier, Musk had posted a series of remarks criticizing the political left and warning about the consequences of the 2026 elections.

On Thursday, January 1, Musk wrote on X, “America is toast if the radical left wins. They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud. Won’t be America anymore.”

He shared the comment alongside a clip showing him nodding after President Trump patted him on the arm during a recent White House event. The accompanying post claimed Musk was “reportedly going all-in funding Republicans to help President Trump take back full control” in the 2026 midterms.

Elon Musk and Trump relationship saw sharp turns in 2025

Musk and Trump’s relationship has been marked by notable highs and lows over the past year. When Trump began his second term in January 2025, Musk was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, commonly referred to as DOGE.

“Elon gave an incredible service. There’s nobody like him,” Trump said at the time. “He had to go through the slings and the arrows, which is a shame, because he’s an incredible patriot.”

Their relationship later cooled after Musk publicly accused Trump of covering up files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The fallout reportedly strained ties for several months, during which Musk briefly floated the idea of launching his own political party.

Elon Musk praised Trump’s Venezuela military action

More recently, Musk publicly supported Trump’s decision to authorize a military airstrike in Venezuela aimed at capturing President Nicolas Maduro. In a post on X, Musk congratulated Trump and described the move as a strong warning to “evil dictators everywhere.”

“Congratulations, President Trump! This is a win for the world and a clear message to evil dictators everywhere,” Musk wrote.

He also reshared a White House post showing Maduro aboard the USS Iwo Jima, seated with his hands restrained and eyes covered. The operation, described by US officials as brief and targeted, reportedly resulted in the capture of Maduro and his wife, who were flown out of Venezuela. Fox News reported the strike involved a short but intense military action.
