LANGLEY, VIRGINIA: Tech billionaire Elon Musk caused a stir on the internet after he shared a photo of himself from the CIA headquarters building on Wednesday, April 2.

After President Donald Trump took office in January 2025, he decided that his ally, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, would be leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Elon Musk took to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to post a photo of himself from inside the CIA headquarters building.

The post has so far garnered more than 75 million views and more than 4,80,000 likes on the social media platform.

Interestingly, Musk's trip was hailed by CIA Director John Ratcliffe who also shared a picture with Musk on X.

Ratcliffe said that the Tesla CEO discussed ideas for reducing federal spending via DOGE.

Notably, Musk aims to cut over a trillion dollars in government spending under the Trump administration, as per Unilad.

Ratcliffe wrote, "Had a great visit and meeting with @ElonMusk to discuss his ideas and progress so far in making our government more efficient! I look forward to working with Elon and his team to ensure that CIA remains the premier intelligence Agency in the world."

However, despite Musk's visit to the CIA headquarters, DOGE will not get full access to the CIA database.

DOGE will not have unrestricted access to CIA data or internal systems due to the top-secret nature of information, Axios reported.

However, DOGE will be granted limited access.

A source informed Axios that CIA officials didn't give Elon Musk an intelligence briefing, but discussed with him "how the CIA is unique" in comparison to other government agencies.

The source added that the CIA has an internal DOGE team that was formed after Trump's executive order.

The team, which includes CIA career officials, has been working for several weeks, per the outlet.

Internet abuzz as Elon Musk shares photo from CIA headquarters

Several people took to X to express their views after Elon Musk shared a photo of himself from the CIA headquarters building on Wednesday.

A user asked on X, "Where is his suite? Tell me @grok why Elon is not wearing a suite when visiting CIA?" while another questioned, "Why are you allowed in the CIA building?"

One person stated, "Welcome to the Matrix," whereas another mentioned, "Was not aware you were an intelligence operative. Or congress. Or even elected. So why are you there?"

One individual wrote, "Special Agent Musk reporting for duty," while another commented, "The DOGE has entered the building, LFG."

One netizen said, "The face that launched a thousand protests," while another wrote, "Elon is in the CIA now."

One individual remarked, "The enemy stands in the house," while another erased Musk from the photo and declared, "Fixed."
