Eminem set to share his thoughts on 2024 race at Kamala Harris' rally before introducing Obama in Detroit
MICHIGAN, DETROIT: Eminem is stepping into the political arena once again on Tuesday night, October 22.
The rapper will introduce former president Barack Obama at a campaign rally in Detroit in support of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
Will Eminem perform at Kamala Harris' Michigan rally?
While Eminem is not scheduled to perform, he will be sharing his thoughts on the 2024 presidential race before welcoming Obama to the stage, according to CNN.
The Detroit rapper is not typically known for making public appearances, but his involvement in the Detroit rally underscores the importance of Michigan as a battleground state in the upcoming election.
His decision to speak at the event highlights his opposition to former president Donald Trump.
The rapper has been an outspoken critic of Trump for years, even going so far as to say he would leave the country if Trump wins re-election in November.
Eminem has accused Trump of "brainwashing" his supporters and has repeatedly called the former president "racist."
These views were made particularly clear during his 2017 acceptance speech at the BET Hip Hop Awards, where a pre-taped video of him harshly criticizing Trump went viral and has since resurfaced online.
Eminem's criticism of Donald Trump
Eminem’s disapproval of Trump has been a recurring theme in his public commentary.
In the 2017 video, the rapper expressed frustration with the former president’s base, saying, "He talks a good one... he's somehow still got them because he's brainwashing them into thinking that something great is going to happen."
"Nothing's happening. Nothing is happening," he said at the time.
The rapper even went so far as to draw a line between his own fans and Trump supporters in a politically charged rap.
"Any fan of mine who's a supporter of his, I'm drawing in the sand a line," he said, challenging his listeners to pick a side.
Eminem says Donald Trump 'makes my blood boil'
In a 2017 interview with New York Magazine's Vulture, the rapper discussed the emotional toll Donald Trump’s leadership took on him.
"He makes my blood boil. I can't even watch the news anymore because it makes me too stressed out," Eminem said at the time.
He expressed his desire for the US to be its best but remained adamant that Trump was not the leader to achieve that.
"I want our country to be great too, I want it to be the best it can be, but it's not going to be that with him in charge," he said in the interview.
While Eminem has leveled significant criticism at Trump, he has also taken aim at other political figures, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, in the past.
However, his current stance aligns him with Obama, as both prepare to rally support for Kamala Harris in Michigan, according to Daily Mail.
