WASHINGTON, DC: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called out the US media for failing to maintain "a consistent narrative" about the dangers of having former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump reinstated in the Oval Office, during an interview with MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on Monday, September 16.

The harsh comments of the veteran Democrat came a day after Trump faced what is being considered an apparent second assassination attempt while playing golf at his club in Florida on September 15. The heated rhetoric thus earned Clinton strong criticism over social media.

Donald Trump was "being taught" that the more offensive he could be in his communications, the greater would be his domination of the "media space", Rachel Maddow told Hillary Clinton on Monday.

When asked if she had an "antidote" for the situation, the former first lady responded, "Sadly, the press is still not able to cover Trump the way that they should. They careen from one outrage to the next."

"What was outrageous three days ago is no longer on the front pages, even though it threatens the physical safety of so many people, particularly, as you point out, immigrants that he and Vance have decided to demonize."

"And I don't understand why it's so difficult for the press to have a consistent narrative about how dangerous Trump is," she continued, quoting late journalist Harry Evans to state that journalists striving for objectivity means they should try to "cover the object".

"Well, the object in this case is Donald Trump, his demagoguery, his danger to our country and the world, and stick with it."

Clinton felt that the scrutiny that incumbent Joe Biden had to go through while he was trying to get reelected to the White House was absent in the case of Donald Trump, who utilized the opportunity to desensitize people with his vicious attacks.

"Americans need to understand that they have to take Trump both seriously and literally. He has said what he wants to do. He and his allies with Project 2025, his desire to be a dictator, at least on day one, all of that is in the public record," she shared.

"We're not going back to the romance with dictators that puts innocent lives at risk and America's security in danger. We can't go back and give this very dangerous man another chance to do harm to our country and the world," Clinton concluded.

Conservatives label Hillary Clinton 'most vile woman ever in American politics'

Netizens, especially conservatives, reacting to Hillary Clinton's comments on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) lashed out against her for deriding GOP nominee Donald Trump.

The following tweets demonstrate their sentiment.

"Perhaps the most vile woman ever in American politics. Totally deserving of all the hatred," wrote a user.

"The peddling of hatred towards Trump continues. It’s disgusting," shared another.

"We need to get comfortable with calling this what it is: evil," expressed a third.

"The press has had a consistent narrative against Trump and it’s working exactly as Hillary Clinton wants it to work," jibed a fourth.

"If there is anyone who needs to be in prison, it’s Hillary Clinton!" exclaimed a fifth.

"Trump’s greatest gift to America was defeating Hillary Clinton. That act alone is worthy of sainthood," quipped a sixth user.

"That’s what panic sounds like," tweeted yet another.
