SHANKSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA: President Joe Biden briefly sported one of former president Donald Trump's iconic red 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) caps during a 9/11 commemoration ceremony.

The moment was captured on video and circulated on social media, with the Trump War Room X account sharing the clip and captioning it, "Kamala did so bad in last night's debate, Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat."

During a stop at a fire station in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, near the crash site of United Flight 93, Joe Biden was seen briefly wearing the bright red Trump hat, according to Daily Mail.

Explaining the unusual moment, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates took to X on Wednesday, September 11, saying, "At the Shanksville Fire Station, [President Joe Biden] spoke about the country's bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that."

"As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, POTUS should put on his Trump cap. He briefly wore it," Bates continued.

The exchange occurred in a private setting with firefighters and was not open to the pool of reporters who typically follow the president.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were at the fire station, meeting with families affected by the September 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Internet mocks Joe Biden wearing 'Trump 2024' cap

As Joe Biden briefly sported a 'Trump 2024' hat during a stop at a fire station in Shanksville, netizens mocked the president's bizarre gesture.

One user on X wrote, "@realDonaldTrump was right. Joe Biden really does hate Kamala Harris," and another user reiterated, "I guess this proves Joe really does hate Kamala."

"This convinces me more than anything the election is over," a netizen commented, while someone remarked, "This is crazy. Joe is completely gone."

"Looks like he just endorsed Trump over his own VP," an individual penned, and another opined, "Not good. His behavior can’t be trusted in public at this point. You have to wonder if this was a subconscious jab at Kamala. Maybe Trump is right, maybe Biden is quite angry at her."
