WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's family and trusted staff were moved to tears as he delivered his first address from the Oval Office since dropping out of the 2024 presidential race.

They applauded when he concluded his 11-minute speech on Wednesday, July 24, but they also wiped away tears.

The staff present in the room included Mike Donilon, a longtime aide to President Biden since the beginning of his political career, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, and Annie Tomasini, the POTUS' Deputy Chief of Staff.

He told them, "This has been the honor of a lifetime."

Subsequently, everyone gathered in the Rose Garden, to enjoy President Biden's favorite dessert, ice cream, while one of his campaign songs, 'Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher and Higher', played in the background.

Joe Biden explained why he decided to 'pass the torch' to a new generation in Oval Office address

In his address, Joe Biden detailed his rationale for withdrawing from the 2024 campaign, asserting that he was capable of serving another term. He stated that he decided to "pass the torch" to Vice President Kamala Harris as he believed it would unite the country and preserve democracy.

"I believe my record as president, my leadership in the world, my vision for America's future all merited a second term," said the POTUS, adding, "But nothing, nothing, can come in the way of saving our democracy that includes personal ambition so I decided the best way forward is the pass the torch to a new generation."

President Biden further noted, "There is a time and a place for long years of experience in public life. There's also a time and a place for new voices fresh voices. Yes, younger voices."

One aspect he did not discuss was his health. The 81-year-old incumbent was diagnosed with Covid-19 before he announced his decision to suspend his 2024 reelection campaign.

Fellow Democrats called for President Joe Biden's withdrawal following dismal debate performance

Following his poor debate performance against Donald Trump, several Democrats urged him to step aside to make space for a more capable candidate.

The president's delivery faltered occasionally during Wednesday's address. He utilized the opportunity to highlight his legacy, articulate his rationale for withdrawing from the presidential race, and acknowledge the work he intends to complete in the remaining six months of his term.

He expressed, "I revere this office but I love my country more. It's been the honor of my life to serve as your president but the defense of democracy, which is at stake, I think is more important than a title."

President Biden emphasized that he voluntarily took the decision to exit the race, highlighting a sharp contrast with his predecessor. While he did not explicitly name Trump, his message was unmistakable as he spoke of the nation's interests being greater than those of the Oval Office.

The 45th president attempted to reverse the outcome of the 2020 election to remain in office and subsequently faced state and federal charges for his efforts.

"America is an idea - an idea stronger and any army, bigger than any ocean, more power than any dictator," expressed Biden.

Joe Biden renamed his campaign machinery 'Harris for President'

President Joe Biden endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee after dropping out of the race and gave her control of his campaign machinery, renaming it "Harris for President."

The vice president received enough delegates' pledges to secure the presidential nomination soon after announcing her presidential bid.

While he didn't explicitly endorse Harris during Wednesday's address, Biden said, "I made my choice. I've made my views known. I'd like to thank our great Vice President Kamala Harris. She's experienced. She's tough. She's capable. She's been an incredible partner to me and a leader for our country."

He added, "Now the choice is up to you, the American people," referring to the November election.

The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place in Chicago from August 19 to August 22. Biden is the first sitting president not to seek reelection since Lyndon B Johnson in 1968.

Internet reacts as Joe Biden's family and staff are moved to tears by Oval Office address

Netizens were quick to bash Joe Biden, his family, and his trusted staff following his Oval Office address.

One wrote, "Finallly, the Biden crime family humbled for once and, of course, Joey's favorite dessert, ICE CREAM for everyone after the 'speech.' Yippy!!" and another said, "The Bidens are so undignified and lack of self-awareness; they are 'playing the Victimhood' at the highest level."

A person expressed, "Crying because their ride on the presidential gravy train has come to an end. bet hunter is bricking it now," while someone else remarked, "They're crying because the whole clan will have to vacate from the living quarter."

"I bet they are crying their meal ticket has just run out. He had better pardon Hunter now before he doesn't remember who he is," quipped another person. One more stated, "Libs are always crying about something…"

An individual shared, "It is like he resigned from the office, but all he did was tell us what we already knew concerning his fitness for the presidency. Their reaction is not normal for the situation."

"Joe Biden's family were weeping because they know that their gravy train is about to dry up. Then there's that pesky little problem about their rampant 'business' dealings and the selling out of their country by Joe and Hunter for personal financial gain, that is actively being investigated by the House Oversight Committee," claimed a netizen.
