Emmys 2024 Worst Dressed: From Maya Rudolph's mauve outfit with cape to Alan Cumming's plaid ensemble

It was the most prestigious and glamorous night in television as the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles on September 15. While some celebrities brought their A-game to the red carpet, some stars simply missed the fashion mark. While a few took tiny missteps, some headed straight for fashion disaster. Here are ten celebrities who failed to make an impression with their sartorial choices on the 2024 Emmys red carpet. 

1. Alan Cumming

Alan Cumming appeared on the Emmy red carpet wearing his signature fashion staple of plaids. 'The Traitors' star paid homage to his native Scotland in a cream blazer with a plaid wrap detail. However, he did not limit his plaid usage to just a wrap and went for a shirt in a similar print. He paired his plaids with a black kilt worn over a pair of black trousers. The actor went overboard with another print with a black and white plaid necktie. He also attached a pin to the lapel of his coat with a medal that read, “For Military Merit.” Cumming shared with People on the red carpet that his look was styled by Teddy Vonranson. 

2. Devery Jacobs

Was it a suit? Was it a dress? Or was it both? Devery Jacobs attended the Primetime Emmy Awards wearing a dramatic white ensemble consisting of a white tulle outer dress over a pantsuit. The 'Reservation Dogs' star, however, made a strong political statement by attaching an Artists4Ceasefire pin to her attire. The television star's look was styled by Christian Stroble.

3. Dan Levy

Co-host Dan Levy tried to make a statement during the Emmys in a stylish black suit paired with a cream top from the Loewe Spring 2025 collection. However, the peculiar-looking raised napkin-shaped collar of the top made a statement for all the wrong reasons, per Daily Mail.

4. Maya Rudolph

Too many things were happening all at once with Maya Rudolph's outfit. The 'Saturday Night Live' alum opted for a dusty brownish mauve outfit from Chloe. However, the dress was replete with the brand's signature details including everything from romantic ruffles to sheer cape. Styled by Rebecca Grice, Rudolph completed her look with Bulgari Serpenti jewelry.

5. Eiza Gonzalez

Eiza Gonzalez and Rita Ora had almost a fashion-twinning moment on the red carpet as both the stars opted for pink fitted gowns from Tamara Ralph FW24 Couture. The '3 Body Problem's star paired a pink feathered shawl to complete her look. However, the ill-fitted neckline of the dress drew a flurry of criticisms from fashion pundits on the internet. 

6. Emily Hampshire

'Schitt's Creek' star Emily Hampshire walked the red carpet in a deconstructed tuxedo from the Dolce & Gabbana SS24 RTW collection. The most peculiar part of her outfit? - The one-shouldered tuxedo detail that left her white shirt peeking from the right side. 

7. Chris Perfetti

Chris Perfetti had no scarcity of frills in his shirt from Christian Siriano's Spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The 'Abbott Elementary' star failed to impress with his white chiffon long shirt featuring white ruffles laced in black. He left half of the sheer theatrical shirt unbuttoned as he paired it with wide-legged trousers. 

8. Guy Branum

While we can't say we don't envy Guy Branum for choosing comfort over style, the comedian went a little too casual for one of the greatest nights of television. Branum chose a steel blue co-ord set comprising of zip-up jacket and shorts. He completed his athleisure look with funky blue sneakers.

9. Chris Olsen

Chris Olsen drew the attention for all the wrong reasons. While his bright red suit with white piping looked fine, he paired it with an ultra-low-cut vest that did not compliment the outfit. He also opted for a red-rimmed black retro sunglasses to complete his look.  

10. Grace Kuhlenschmidt

Grace Kuhlenschmidt had a color-blocking gone wrong moment on the Emmy red carpet. The 'Search Party' star opted for an off-white pantsuit with a bright blue printed top underneath. While she chose maroon chunky boots for her choice of footwear, her unstructured orange handbag proved to be an eyesore.
