Eric Church reflects on how patriotism in country music sets it apart: ‘That’s something we stand by’
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA: Ahead of Veteran's Day, country music icon Eric Church shared his thoughts on the special relationship between the genre and the military while also opining that country music is the most patriotic of all genres.
In a recent statement released by his label, UMG Nashville, Church expressed how country music steadfastly recognizes the sacrifices of service members and offers support to veterans.
Eric Church reflects on country music’s unwavering support for veterans
Eric Church released a message through his label, wishing the country's veterans and thanking them for their service, in light of the upcoming Veteran's Day on November 11.
The country music star explained, “What I respect and admire is the sacrifice that those guys and girls go through for us to live the way they want to live too."
Church also expressed pride in the enduring connection between country music and the military. "I just think that I’m proud for our format," he elaborated, pointing out that country music often places veterans at the heart of its narrative.
"I’m proud for the music, that that’s something we stand by when not sure other ones do as much."
"I mean, not that they’re not patriotic, I just think that’s really something that we make a focal point. And just, I’m proud to be involved in that. And again, I’m very thankful for the sacrifice that those… those guys endure and it’s something that’s always been very important to me and always will be," he said, per WKML.
Church's performances, which include tributes to soldiers, along with his songs, have become anthems for veterans, reinforcing the strong connection between country music and the armed forces.
Eric Church's unique gesture for his fans
Before the opening of his Nashville bar earlier this year, Eric Church displayed his dedication to his fans, known as The Church Choir, by presenting each member with a deed to an actual brick from his renovated six-story downtown Nashville venue, Chiefs.
Eric conveyed a message to his fans through a video.
“You’ve helped me build my career brick by brick, and I want the whole world to know that the building is yours."
"This is not just another club downtown. This is our house. I’ve been involved in every step of restoring this historic building into a place we can call our own and, because you’ve been with me every step of my career, I’m proud to dedicate a physical brick of the Chief’s building to each and every one of you," he said.
