Eric Trump blasted for making bizarre comparison between father Donald Trump's legal troubles and racism
WASHINGTON, DC: During a recent appearance on Fox News' 'Sunday Morning Futures' with Maria Bartiromo, Eric Trump made a startling comparison between his father Donald Trump's legal troubles and racism.
Moreover, the second son of the former president appeared to confuse the dates of his father's forthcoming sentencing hearing with those of the Republican National Convention.
Eric Trump makes bizarre connection between Donald Trump's legal issues and racism
"You mentioned in your opening about African American support. You mentioned that certain communities are coming over to my father," said Eric, adding, "It’s exactly because of this."
"They’re doing the same to Donald Trump as they did to so many of those communities for so long," claimed the former reality television presenter, as reported by OK Magazine.
He further remarked, "These people are saying, ‘Huh, it’s really interesting. They did this to us for a long time. Now they’re doing it to him. I might actually want to vote for the guy, you know, who’ll fight back against this as we have tried to for so long.'"

In May, the former president was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment made to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.
His sentencing is set for Thursday, July 11, just four days before the RNC begins. When questioned about his expectations for the hearing by the Fox News host, Eric expressed that the timing was "shocking."
He said, "The next evening, I take the stage at the RNC. Go figure that. Out of all the dates the judge could’ve put this, they have to put it the day before maybe the biggest day outside of an election day in an election cycle. I mean, Maria, this is planned."
However, the 2024 RNC is slated to begin on July 15 and continue till July 18.
Internet reacts to Eric Trump's bizarre comparison
Eric drew backlash for suggesting that certain communities have grown closer to his father due to his criminal conviction.
One commented, "Yeah right! No one belives that! This is another one in the millions of lies told by the Trump Family!" and another said, "Of all the things that didn't happen, this is right there at the top of the list."
"So, because the convicted felon is finally held accountable for criming, after a lifetime of white privilege, does he think he can identify with institutional racism? Trash Trumps make me freaking sick! They are offensive in every way!" fumed a person.
"Don’t believe anything coming out of his mouth," remarked an individual.
One more wrote, "No Donnie you’re not like blacks who get indicted and convicted. If you were black and you got convicted on 34 felonies you wouldn’t be walking around free right now. And if you’re black and convicted on 34 felonies you wouldn’t be running for the most important job in the world, you would be lucky if you could find any job. So no Donnie, you’re not the same."
Another person succinctly pointed out, "We weren't guilty. They threw us in jail for existing."
