Erika Kirk calls TPUSA halftime show a ‘pro‑America’ rebuttal to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl act
SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA: In the midst of ongoing debates about culture and politics, Turning Point USA has announced an alternative halftime show to the official Super Bowl LX performance.
CEO of TPUSA Erika Kirk, who leads the organization, is framing their event as a distinctly “pro‑America” rebuttal to the performance featuring Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny. She describes the project as rooted in unity, cultural values, and family‑friendly programming.
TPUSA offers a pro‑America alternative to Super Bowl LX halftime show
Appearing on 'The Story with Martha MacCallum', with guest host Trace Gallagher, Erika presented TPUSA's counter-programming as both a cultural statement and a personal tribute to her late husband, Charlie Kirk.
Reflecting on his legacy, she said, “It’s powerful, because what Charlie always loved and knew is that he wanted to be in the forefront of the culture war. He would be fist-pumping with this. He’d be so stoked.”
The alternative broadcast will air simultaneously with the Super Bowl halftime and will showcase performances by Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
Although Erika recognized that Bad Bunny’s music connects with a vast global audience, she emphasized that TPUSA's intent is not to attack the NFL’s halftime selection, but to offer a family-friendly, patriotic alternative.
She said, “That’s the thing that’s so beautiful about Turning Point USA and all of our programs. It’s holistic. It’s for the entire home. It’s for every age. And so for us to be able to provide an alternative that’s pro-America, that’s just pro everything — that’s not the opposite of what they’re putting out there."
Erika also acknowledged differing tastes, “I don’t want to go into details and bash that, because there’s apparently an audience that wants that — but there’s a larger audience that wants ours.”
TPUSA praises artists as Bad Bunny calls for ‘ICE out’
Erika expressed her admiration for the artists who agreed to participate, describing their choice as “very brave,” and underscored that TPUSA's mission goes beyond politics to encompass culture, faith, and the home.
“The artists that have teamed up with us, I just want to say thank you to them. It’s very brave of them to do this. And they have partnered with us without hesitation,” said Erika.
She highlighted the organization’s broad influence and ongoing cultural reach: "It’s one of those things where, at Turning Point USA, we’re doing more than just being in one little orbit in space within the country. I mean, we’re making a huge impact."
Erika further reaffirmed, “We always have, always will. And that will be our mission to continue moving forward and honoring Charlie until my last breath.”
This alternative event was sparked by the NFL’s decision to feature Bad Bunny, who recently won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year for a Spanish‑language album. During his acceptance speech, he addressed Immigration and Customs Enforcement and called for more "love."
"Before I say thanks to God, I'm going to say, ICE out, "We're not savage. We're not animals. We're not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans," he said.
