WASHINGTON, DC: Candace Owens has released a leaked recording of a private call where Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, is heard excitedly talking about Turning Point USA’s high merchandise sales just 11 days after his assassination.

Owens criticized the widow for being "extraordinarily upbeat" and laughing while discussing business metrics so soon after the tragedy.

Candace Owens criticizes Erika Kirk's 'off-putting' tone

Reacting to the audio, Candace Owens told her viewers, "I want to remind you that Charlie [had] not been dead for two weeks."

She stated that "the general tone is off-putting, it's the laughter that is off-putting" when discussing "numbers and metrics."

Owens found it strange that Erika was already in the "acceptance phase" of grief.

She specifically pointed out a moment where Erika said, "My husband is dead, not to be morbid," calling the statement bizarre.

Owens said the mood of the call made her "skin crawl" and noted that she had spoken to employees who also found the widow's behavior "weird."

Owens slams widow’s ‘full steam’ attitude

On the call, Erika told staff, "If you guys have any beef with each other from the past or have any issues, please put it to rest. Like my husband's dead."

She also told staff they could take time off to grieve, but Owens argued this made employees feel "weird" because the widow herself was "full steam ahead."

"Imagine you're the employee. You're like, 'Okay, well, this is his wife saying this, so am I weird? Would I be like, I would be pretty weird if I needed to take time off and his wife is saying she's full steam ahead?''' Owens said.

Erika even told the staff that "Charlie in heaven is like, you guys thought you had a busy schedule then just you wait," which Owens described as "very strange."

Erika boasts of massive sales after Charlie's assassination

On the leaked call, Erika praised Turning Point USA staff for helping her "pull off the event of the century" and talked about the money coming into the organization.

"We’re at over 200,000 merch sales," she boasted, adding that "it just keeps bumping up like crazy."

Erika told the team that "Charlie would want us to get back to work" and listed the growth the group had seen since the assassination.

"Since his assassination, we have 100,000 chapter requests, we have 300,000 new donors. I think we have 50,000 plus hat orders," she said.

She admitted, “'It's weird to say that I'm excited. I really hesitate saying that. It's a really weird thing to say. But I think it comes from a space of peace knowing that God's using this and we're humbly witnessing the gospel in real time.”
