Erika Kirk says bond with God strengthened after Charlie’s death: 'I talk to Him the same way'
WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent appearance on ‘Fox News Sunday,’ Erika Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, shared how her faith has sustained her following her husband’s assassination in September.
Now serving as the CEO of the organization, Kirk emphasized that staying within the “jet streams of God’s will” remains the main force behind her work and her personal recovery.
Erika Kirk reflects on faith following tragic loss
During her conversation with Shannon Bream, Erika Kirk reflected on her spiritual life.
When asked by Bream about her conversations with God in the months following the death of her husband, she noted that her perspective on her life's mission hasn't wavered.
“Quite frankly, they’re kind of the same,” she responded. “I’ve never questioned, ‘Why me?’ I always knew that my life was not just to be lived for me. We’re here for such a greater purpose, and Charlie and I both knew that.”
She explained that this mutual belief inspired her husband's mission, noting that their desire to serve a higher purpose is “why Charlie built what he built.”
Erika Kirk prays for healing and alignment with God’s will
Erika Kirk detailed the nature of her prayers as she navigates the grieving process and her new responsibilities.
“I talk to God, like I said, the same way: ‘God, use me, God, heal my heart. You know my pain, you know the depths of my pain. Walk through this with me. Put the people in my path that will help heal me and guide me and direct me and keep me in lockstep with your will," she said.
Erika Kirk rejects any path outside of God’s direct will
As the new CEO of Turning Point USA, Erika Kirk explained that her executive decisions are governed strictly by her spiritual convictions.
She made it clear that she is not interested in any path that deviates from her religious principles, stating, “I don’t want anything outside of God’s will. I do not. Anything outside of the jet streams of God’s will, I will not even touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
This steadfast approach comes at a time of significant expansion for the organization.
Since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the TPUSA Faith branch has seen a massive surge in engagement, doubling its church network and adding over 200,000 members, marking one of the most substantial growth periods in the organization’s history.
