PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk came under intense online scrutiny after photos of her smiling at a “$10,000-a-plate gala,” hosted by her, began circulating widely on social media.

The black-tie fundraiser was reportedly held at Mar-a-Lago and drew an estimated crowd of around 1,000 attendees. The event was organized in the name of Turning Point USA, the nonprofit previously led by Kirk’s late husband, Charlie Kirk, whose death earlier this year shocked supporters and critics alike.

The viral images showed Erika Kirk smiling broadly while greeting guests, prompting many online users to question her public demeanor just months after her husband was fatally shot during a college event in Utah in September.

During the event, Erika Kirk was photographed grinning while hosting and interacting with attendees. The images quickly spread online, with critics arguing that her visible cheerfulness appeared jarring given the recent loss of her husband.

According to online reports, the gala was intended to raise funds for Turning Point USA as a tribute to Charlie Kirk’s legacy. However, speculation soon followed about the scale of the fundraiser and its financial implications.

Several posts claimed that each attendee paid $10,000 per plate, while others suggested the guest list included prominent figures, including Claudio Fabián “Chiqui” Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association. Neither the reported ticket price nor the final attendance figures have been officially confirmed by the organization.

Erika Kirk addressed conspiracy theories surrounding Charlie Kirk’s death

Amid the backlash, Erika Kirk has also spoken out against conspiracy theories tied to her husband’s killing. Appearing on Fox News’ 'Outnumbered,' she criticized online creators whom she accused of exploiting her family’s tragedy for clicks and profit.

“When you go after the people that I love and you’re making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode going after the people that I love because somehow they’re in on this, no. No,” she said during the interview.

She added that continuing her public work was a way to honor her husband. “I’m not just going to go cry and be in the fetal position. This is a duty to my husband, and it’s an absolute honor. And I will never back down,” Kirk said.

Erika Kirk also claimed her team has faced an increase in threats, including kidnapping threats, which she described as deeply disturbing.

Internet reaction criticized Erika Kirk’s public appearance

Online criticism mounted after Erika Kirk was pictured smiling while hosting a reported “$10,000-a-plate” gala at Mar-a-Lago.

Several users on X questioned her public demeanor so soon after her husband’s death. One user wrote, “Erika Kirk hosted a $10,000-a-plate black-tie gala at Mar-a-Lago this past weekend. Like every grieving widow.” Another added, “I lost my brother and I didn’t want to be social with anyone. I couldn’t imagine losing my wife. I would probably just disappear for a year or two. Her actions are wild.”

Other comments were more pointed. One user claimed, “Her ‘husband’ was shot in the carotid in public three months ago,” while another remarked, “I grieved closed fast food restaurants more authentically and for longer than she has grieved Charlie.”

Additional posts mocked Kirk’s appearance and behavior at the event. “I see she’s still carrying her emotional support tissue,” one user wrote. Another commented, “If my husband had died the way hers did, I still would be struggling to get out of bed.”

The remarks continued to circulate as images from the gala spread across social media, further fueling debate over the optics of the event.
