LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Eva Mendes candidly spoke about prioritizing motherhood over her acting career.

Eva Mendes says she's 'so lucky' to be a full-time mother

Referring to her children, Esmeralda Amada Gosling, nine, and Amada Lee Gosling, seven, Mendes said becoming a full-time mother "was like a no-brainer. [And I was like], I'm so lucky if I could have this time with my children."

She highlighted that while she is still engaged in work, she does not prefer acting because the profession "takes you on location. It takes you away."

"It was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, 'OK, he's going to work and I'm going to work. I'm just going to work here,'" Mendes said referring to Gosling.

"He went and he did his job. He just happens to be really good at his job. And he did it and he came home," she added.

Mendes and Gosling, who first met and began dating while filming 'The Place Beyond the Pines' tend to avoid public appearances together.

However, the couple has been vocal about their admiration for each other on social media during several instances.

Speaking about Gosling's commitment to acting, Mendes told 'Today' that while they filmed 'The Place Beyond the Pines', "I have never experienced anything like that."

"The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it could be, and that means making his co-stars as best as they could be," Mendes continued.

"But unfortunately, or fortunately, there is only one Ryan. So I pretty much stopped just acting after that," she added.

Eva Mendes supported Ryan Gosling amid criticisms for playing Ken in 'Barbie'

She also praised him as she expressed her support for Gosling when he was slammed for his choice of playing the iconic plastic character Ken in 'Barbie'.

Later, Mendes celebrated her husband's third Oscars nomination for his performance as Ken in 'Barbie' under the Best Supporting Actor category amid criticism.

"So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it," she said at the time.

"Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to the Oscars."

 

"So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie," she concluded.
