PIERRE, SOUTH DAKOTA: In her recently published book, 'No Going Back: The Truth on What's Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward,' South Dakota's Republican Governor Kristi Noem, a potential running mate for Donald Trump, made a startling revelation, as per Salon.

She admitted to killing her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, and a "nasty and mean" goat owned by her family. The disclosure sparked widespread outrage and condemnation across social media.

Noem described Cricket, a wirehair pointer, as having an "aggressive personality" and being "out of her mind with excitement." According to the book, the dog allegedly attacked a family's group of chickens during a hunting trip, prompting Noem to take drastic action.

"I stopped the truck in the middle of the yard, got my gun, grabbed Cricket's leash and led her out into the pasture and down into the gravel pit," Noem wrote, adding, "It was not a pleasant job, but it had to be done."

Noem justified her actions by claiming that it was her responsibility to "clean up her mess" and not ask someone else to do it. She also revealed killing a goat that had been "a problem for years," chasing her kids and exhibiting undesirable behavior.

Noem also mentioned that she became aware that a construction crew had witnessed her killing both animals, but they resumed their work before her children were dropped off by the school bus.

Noem compared these decisions to a leader having to make challenging choices, stating, "it's often messy, ugly, and matter-of-fact, dealing with a problem that no one wants to deal with."

On Friday, April 26, amidst the backlash over her killing her pet dog and goat, Noem defended her stance on the matter.

"We love animals, but tough decisions like this happen all the time on a farm. Sadly, we just had to put down 3 horses a few weeks ago that had been in our family for 25 years," Noem penned in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter).

Internet slams Kristi Noem over her revelations about killing her dog and goat

The internet erupted in outrage over Noem's revelations about killing her dog and goat. One X user expressed, "This is disqualifying to be a human being, let alone a potential VP candidate." Another user exclaimed, "Jesus Christ. What kind of heartless monster kills a puppy. And what kind of moron admits to it in a book."

A third commenter criticized, "Trump’s leading VP candidate brags about shooting puppies. You literally can’t make this level of absurdity up. If the dog wasn’t trainable, then find it a loving home. Who just shoots a puppy?" Another individual added, "There’s something deeply wrong with a person who does this and brags about it."

A fifth user conveyed their dismay, stating, "People who hurt animals should NEVER be trusted. EVER... What a sicko!" Another commenter remarked, "There's a special place in hell for this EVIL woman."

A seventh user condemned, "She is disgusting and should be in jail for needlessly killing a puppy."

Another user noted, "In normal, well-adjusted societies, people who intentionally kill & maim animals are profiled as dangerous psychopaths and put into psych wards. In South Dakota, they elect them as governor."
