Ex-fiancee of Lana Del Rey's husband Jeremy Dufrene left 'in shock' by their sudden marriage

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lana Del Rey recently married her boyfriend, Jeremy Dufrene, just a month after confirming their relationship. 

While the 39-year-old singer's fans are still reeling from the news, Dufrene's ex-fiancee expressed that she was completely blindsided by his sudden nuptials.

The 'Summertime Sadness' singer tied the knot with the 49-year-old gator guide in an intimate ceremony by the water in Des Allemands, Louisiana, on Thursday, September 26.

However, Dufrene’s ex Kelli Welsh, 45, is now opening up about her reaction to the news of the singer’s sudden marriage.

Kelli Welsh, who was engaged to Dufrene for 12 years, recently spoke to the Daily Mail about her reaction to their marriage, stating she was in "shock" at the suddenness of their exchanging vows.

She shared with the outlet, “I am in shock because we were engaged for 12 years, and he got married after one month.”

Welsh and Dufrene ended their relationship in October 2023 after being engaged for 12 years.

However, she admitted that she is happy for the alligator enthusiast, stating that she is "happy for him."

“He is a very protective, hardworking, manly man,” Welsh praised, before adding, “He needed to get out of his comfort zone. He was used to bayou life and being out on the swamp. He is deserving of this blessing.”

Dufrene and Welsh began their relationship as high school sweethearts when she was 16 and he was 19, according to the outlet.

However, their relationship initially did not work out and Dufrene went on to marry his first wife Gina. The former couple shared three children together. 

After his first marriage to Gina ended, Dufrene reconnected with Welsh in 2011 and proposed to her in 2012, but they never got married.

Dufrene also raised Welsh’s 20-year-old daughter as his own, and she still lives with him in Louisiana.

Welsh remarked that Dufrene appears genuinely happy with Lana, stating, "I can see that he really looks happy with her, and she does with him, which is great to see. It's not a facade; he is truly in love with her."

Despite having a long romantic history, Kelli Welsh claims that there is no bad blood between her and Dufrene, emphasizing that she still deeply cares for him as a friend.

“He has always been a giver so to have someone give to him, he deserves it,” Welsh said before adding, “He is a very solid guy.”

“I care about him deeply as a friend,” Welsh said, adding that “his ability to love, care, and protect people makes him so attractive.”

Lana and Dufrene got married exactly one month after making their romance public on August 25, when they were seen enjoying a romantic date night in London following the Grammy nominee's performance at the Leeds Festival.
