NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A video claiming that Barron Trump, Donald Trump's youngest son, helped a homeless Black man has been making waves online. The footage surfaced just a month after Trump secured his victory in the 2024 US Presidential election against Kamala Harris.

As the video went viral, many began questioning its authenticity. In a world where both true and false information circulate rapidly, let's take a closer look at the facts behind this claim.

A video claims Barron Trump helped a homeless man

A video posted on December 15, titled "Homeless Man Asks Barron Trump 'Can You Give Me $1?' Trump's Response is SHOCKING," quickly gained traction online, claiming that Barron Trump helped a homeless man by giving him a $100 bill. Within days, the video had amassed over 889K views.

The video narrated how Barron had helped a homeless Black man named Leonard, who had asked for just $1. The encounter was said to have occurred on a cold winter day in Cleveland, where Barron, instead of offering a small amount, handed Leonard a $100 bill.

Barron was also said to have written down an address where Leonard could receive further assistance in getting back on his feet, with the story ending on an inspiring note.

The video’s caption encouraged viewers to share the message, stating, "Watch to see how one simple question sparked a ripple effect that inspired millions across the nation. This wasn’t just a story about generosity—it was a reminder that even the smallest actions could make the biggest difference."

The YouTube video generated over 2,000 comments, with one viewer writing: "He did not think of who he is but showed kindness and humbleness, God bless this young man. Salute Barron!"

Another commenter added, "It’s amazing to see such humility and kindness from someone so young."

Did Barron Trump offer money to a homeless man?

Despite the video garnering numerous views, questions about its authenticity remain. Upon investigating the facts behind the story, no records or footage have been found to support the claim of an interaction between Barron Trump and a homeless man.

Furthermore, the video posted on YouTube includes a disclaimer that states, "The stories presented on this channel are entirely fictional and crafted solely for entertainment. Any resemblance to real events, individuals or situations is purely coincidental and unintentional. These narratives are not intended to depict, reference or represent any actual occurrences, persons or entities."

Additionally, the video shows signs of using AI tools to generate the script, audio, and imagery throughout the narration.

At the beginning of the video, the narrator claims the incident took place at the corner of Broad Street and 17th Avenue, which does not exist in Cleveland, according to Snopes.

Another key detail pointing to the video’s falsehood is the thumbnail image of the homeless man, identified as "Leonard." This image was taken from a December 2017 story by the Courier-Journal in Louisville, where the man was identified as Bryon 'Roc' Peeler, not Leonard.

Based on these findings, it is clear that the video involving Barron and the homeless man is false.
