WASHINGTON, DC: The Donald Trump administration’s direct war against universities like Harvard and Columbia recently got enmeshed in a brand new conspiracy theory that Barron Trump’s inability to get into one of those prestigious institutions triggered President Donald Trump to go into a full-blown war with them.

Recently, social media has been flooded with theories that the 78-year-old president’s anger specifically stemmed from after his 18-year-old son, Barron, was rejected by Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford.

Claim: Barron Trump’s rejection from Harvard prompted Donald Trump to feud with university

After the Trump administration threatened to cut federal funding for Harvard, social media has erupted with the claim that Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump’s son Barron Trump’s rejection from the universities prompted his father to retaliate against the educational institutions.

One of the social media users, named James Tate, an avowed Trump critic, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Guess what colleges didn’t accept Barron Trump?" before naming the three colleges, "Harvard. Stanford. Columbia."

Tate wrote, “Any college Trump is attacking-are the ones that with all of his money they said 'no endowment will let him in.'"

Similarly, another user, named Alex Cole, wrote, "Trump's just angry that even his rich dad couldn't get him into Harvard. President Obama got into Harvard."

Cole’s tweet has since then garnered more than 800,000 views and almost 2,000 comments.

Again, Senator of Rhode Island, Sheldon Whitehouse, took to his Threads account to float a similar theory by sharing an Esquire article titled, "Harvard Stacked Every Penny of Its $54 Billion Endowment and Told the Trump Administration to Bring It On."

He commented suggestively, "Can’t help but wonder how many Trumps got rejected by Harvard."

Though he didn’t mention Barron’s name, several users chimed in to claim that it might be Barron who was rejected by Harvard or Columbia.

Fact Checking: There is no evidence as of yet that Barron Trump applied to Harvard

Despite the claims, upon further research, it has been seen that there is no such evidence of Barron Trump applying — and getting rejected — from the prestigious institutions like Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford.

While the youngster might not be a student of these prestigious institutions, he is nevertheless enrolled in another eminent institution.
