WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump's administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case has faced criticism from several individuals, including some MAGA influencers. Earlier in July, the Department of Justice stated in a memo that there was no “client list” linked to Epstein and reiterated that the disgraced financier died by suicide.

Recently, a rumor began circulating online, claiming that Donald Trump made 4,725 wire transfers to Epstein totaling $1.1 billion. But is there any truth to this claim? Let’s find out below.

Claim: Donald Trump made 4,725 money transfers to Jeffrey Epstein totaling $1.1 billion

In July 2025, a rumor began circulating online claiming that President Donald Trump made 4,725 wire transfers to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

An X (formerly Twitter) post amplified the claim, asserting that the transactions totaled $1.1 billion. The post included a video of a man speaking in what appeared to be a legislative chamber, citing similar figures.

The caption read: "MAJOR BREAKING NEWS. Trump made 4,725 wire transfers to Epstein. Totaling over $1.1 billion. Let me repeat that…4,725 wire transfers, adding up to nearly $1.1 billion, flowing in and out of just 1 of Mr Epstein’s bank accounts."

Another X user shared the same clip and wrote: "Speaking of #RussiaRussiaRussia #Trump funneled over 1.1 BILLION DOLLARS to #JeffreyEpstein through 4,715 wire transfers and you best believe it wasn't for fish and chips."

On Instagram, a user also posted the video, claiming: "Trump made over 4,725 wire transfers to Epstein. The transfers totaled over 1.1 BILLION. There is no question ..RELEASE THE FILED!"

Fact Check: False, the clip did not mention Donald Trump's name

The claims made in the online rumor are false. The claim originated from findings by the office of US Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon, who was seen reading in the viral video. Although the online posts accurately mentioned the number of transactions and the amount, they incorrectly attributed them all to Donald Trump.

Wyden spoke in a Senate session on July 17 about files related to Jeffrey Epstein that his team found at the US Department of the Treasury. He said his investigative team found the following details in the Treasury files in 2024, when former President Joe Biden gave permission.

He said, "Somewhere in the Treasury Department, Mr President, locked away in a cabinet drawer is a big Epstein file that's full of actionable information, follow-the-money details about his financing and operations that await investigation. Last year, the Biden administration allowed our investigators to look at portions of the file. We did that at the Treasury Building."

Wyden continued, "Here is what it says. Treasury's Epstein file details, Mr President, 4,725 wire transfers. Let me repeat that: 4,725 wire transfers adding up to nearly $1.1 billion, flowing in and out of just one of Mr Epstein's bank accounts. If you ask me, that is more than 4,000 potential lines of investigation right there. Hundreds of millions more flowed through other accounts. That's even a lot more to investigate."

"The file shows that Mr Epstein used multiple Russian banks, which are now under sanctions, to process payments related to s*x trafficking. A lot of the women and girls he targeted came from Russia, Belarus, Turkey and elsewhere. One shudders to think about the kinds of people who must have been involved in trafficking these women and young girls out of those countries and into the Epstein web of abuse," he added.

However, he did not say or suggest Donald Trump was one of the people on the other end of the transactions during his speech.

Moreover, he urged the Trump administration to investigate the transactions, calling them "potential leads."

House Democrats demand access to Jeffrey Epstein’s 'birthday book'

House Democrats have intensified efforts to uncover withheld materials related to Jeffrey Epstein’s network, demanding access to a document known as the "birthday book."

In a formal request sent on July 25 to attorneys representing Epstein's estate, Representatives Ro Khanna and Robert Garcia, both California Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, called for the immediate release of an unredacted copy of the document.

They framed the book as a potential key to understanding not only Epstein’s social circles but also why certain documents were selectively declassified by the Trump administration while others were kept hidden.

The letter reads, "Recent public reporting indicates that the Estate of Jeffrey Epstein is in possession of a document commonly referred to as ‘the birthday book,’ compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003. This book has clear relevance to this case."

"The book is relevant for ongoing congressional oversight of the Department of Justice's handling of the Epstein investigation and prosecution, as well as the Trump administration's decision to declassify and release only a handful of documents from its Epstein files while withholding others from the public," it continues.

Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers have also demanded a "complete, unredacted copy" of the Epstein "birthday book" by August 10.
