AUSTIN, TEXAS: A rumor has been circulating on social media platforms claiming that Texas Democratic Congresswoman Rep Jasmine Crockett has been banned from all state properties for harassing Governor Greg Abbott.

The claim has triggered criticism and speculation, with many calling for verification of the rumor, prompting a fact check.

Claim: Greg Abbott bans Jasmine Crockett from state properties

According to a viral X post, Crockett got banned from all state properties in Texas after she allegedly kept showing up at places and events involving Abbott to harass him.

“Governor Abbott issued a no-trespass order for Representative Crockett for all state-owned property, as is his right as chief executive,” Abbott’s press secretary Jan O’Berro allegedly said. “The Governor has spent enough time listening to an outgoing congresswoman cry.”

The post further claimed that Crockett plans to appeal in federal court, to which Abbott’s office said, “The circuit court has no jurisdiction over this state’s executive branch.”

The claim has drawn mockery and criticism against Crockett, indicating that many believe the claim to be true, while few others remain skeptical and question the authenticity of the rumor.

Fact Check: No credible evidence to support the claim

However, the claim is false, as there is no evidence of the Congresswoman being banned from all state properties in Texas. There are no such orders, statements, or official remarks from Abbott against Crockett.

The above-mentioned remark by Abbott’s press secretary, Jan O’Berro, is also baseless and fabricated, as no such person exists.

If the claim were true, prominent news media outlets would have widely covered it, making headlines, but a search on Google for the claim yielded no credible reports.

Moreover, the claim originated from an X account that has made similar fake and exaggerated posts for the sake of engagement, likely intended as satire, though not explicitly a parody account.

Jasmine Crockett called Greg Abbott 'governor on hot wheels'

Although there are no recent reports of a feud between Abbott and Crockett, the Congresswoman once stirred a row after she called wheelchair-bound Abbott "Governor Hot Wheels."

"Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there. And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a** mess, honey," Crockett said during a Human Rights Campaign dinner in Los Angeles on March 22 last year.

A few days later, Crockett addressed the backlash in a post on X, stating, “I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable."
