LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: An old quote from November 2023 has been doing rounds on the Internet, claiming that singer Hank Williams Jr "backed out" from a Country Legends performance because he did not want to share the stage with Garth Brooks.

The viral quote, claiming to be said by Williams Jr, goes thus: "I wouldn’t be caught dead on stage with Garth Brooks." However, is there any truth to this? Let's find out below.

An X user claimed on November 28, 2023, that Hank Williams Jr had said the words "I wouldn't be caught dead on stage with Garth Brooks".



 

However, there is no proof or source attached to the post that could prove that Williams Jr made the statement. The post resurfaced after almost a year amid a Garth Brook controversy.

The quote was part of a satirical article published by The Dunning Kruger Times on November 27, 2023. The website is under the umbrella of America's Last Line of Defense, a network of content that is described by the website as containing 'parody, satire, and tomfoolery'.

The social media post was debunked as fake by X stating, "This supposed quote from Hank Williams Jr has been proven to be fake many times. The story originally came from dunning-Kruger-times a known satire website that says on-site nothing on here is true."

Similarly, there were no official statements from Williams Jr that prove he said the words. As for the article, while reading it to the end, it can be found that its author had dropped plenty of hints that it was not a genuine news story. A part of the article mentioned the imaginary monetary figure of "eleventy billion dollars".
