WASHINGTON, DC: The US and Israel launched another round of strikes on Sunday, March 1, officials revealed. President Donald Trump said in a social media post on Saturday, February 28, that 'heavy and pinpoint bombing' of Iran would 'continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary'.
Following this, a rumor circulated online claiming that the Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, said, "We are waiting for a missile to accidentally land in North Korea." But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Meanwhile, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a condolence message that the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli airstrikes was a 'declaration of war against Muslims, particularly Shiites across the globe.' He added, "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers seeking justice and retaliation against those responsible for this historic crime — both its perpetrators and those who ordered it, a duty and a legitimate right, and it will pursue this responsibility with full determination."
The Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday that for the first time since the US-Israeli bombing campaign started, Israel has struck targets in "the heart of Tehran."
The IDF said, "The Air Force, guided by Military Intelligence, has now launched a broad wave of strikes toward targets of the Iranian terror regime in the heart of Tehran."
Fact Check: False, claim originated as satire
The claim made in the online post is false, as Kim Jong Un did not say "we are waiting for a missile to accidentally land in North Korea." The post originated from internet memes and satirical social media posts.
A search of credible news sources from 2026 shows no evidence of the North Korean leader making this statement or anything similar. The claim surfaced following a US-Israel joint missile attack on Iran.
Interestingly, similar fabricated or satirical quotes about Kim Jong Un circulated frequently online, such as past false claims about nuclear tests being 'peaceful' or threats tied to unrelated events like Venezuela.
