ST HELENA, CALIFORNIA: Recent rumors have claimed that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded some famous names such as Malia Obama, Chelsea Clinton, Ben Stiller, and Angelina Jolie, which were later debunked.

Now, a rumor has circulated online claiming that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's vineyard received $14 million in funding from USAID. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.

Claim: Nancy Pelosi's vineyard received $14 million in USAID funding

In February, an online rumor claimed that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's vineyard had received $14 million in funding for "experimental farming" from USAID, the government's main overseas aid agency.

A Facebook page called 'America's Last Line Of Defense' posted an image on Monday, February 24, that read, "Nancy Pelosi's Vineyard Received $14 million from USAID for 'experimental farming'. In case you were wondering why she's so opposed to Congressional audits."

The caption read, "We checked. She hasn't experimented with anything. She grows three kinds of grapes. Nothing else."

The rumor soon made its way to other social media platforms, such as X and Reddit. An X user shared the post and wrote, "Nancy Pelosi had no business collecting government funding for a personal venture. This is why the democrats are scared. They know they are in hot water."

False: The post was labeled as satire

The claims made in the online rumor are completely false as there is no evidence to prove that the vineyard Pelosi owns in Northern California received any funding from USAID, according to Snopes.

Moreover, the claim originated on the Facebook page 'America's Last Line of Defense' which is part of a network of satirical websites and social media accounts, the fact-checking outlet reported.

The image on the Facebook post had a satire label in the bottom left corner, whereas the page described itself as the "flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery and propaganda for cash." It also featured a disclaimer that read, "Nothing on this page is real."

Furthermore, a Google search using the terms "Pelosi vineyard USAID funding" did not show any credible reports about the online rumor.

The comments of the post showed that the owner of the Facebook page wrote that Pelosi "should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law" and linked an article from Dunning-Kruger-Times.com.

The 'About' page described the website as a "subsidiary of the 'America's Last Line of Defense' network of parody, satire and tomfoolery," according to Snopes.

Similar rumors about other big names also made their way online

Before the rumor about Nancy Pelosi's vineyard receiving $14 million in USAID funding, there were claims that some famous names, such as Malia Obama, Chelsea Clinton, Ben Stiller, and Angelina Jolie, also received funding from USAID.

There were claims that Malia Obama received over $2.2 million from USAID. Another online claim showed that the daughter of former President Bill Clinton, Chelsea, received a staggering $84 million for her work at the Clinton Foundation from USAID.

A similar rumor mentioned that Hollywood celebrities Ben Stiller and Angelina Jolie also received millions from USAID for a Ukraine trip.

However, all these claims mentioned above were debunked as there was no proper evidence to back them.
